DCE for Game III?

My trouble with Munster at 6 is that his kicking game is non existent. It really gives NSW a good opportunity to target Cronk with pressure on the last tackle if Munster is in the halves. Heck I'd sooner risk Ash Taylor in the 6 than have a half that can't be trusted kicking on the last TBH.

That's a fair point, but it doesn't seem to have affected the Storm so far this year.

That is true but the pressure in an NRL game isn't really comparable to an Origin match. Defense is generally so much better at Origin level.

Munster stands out in normal NRL games though, he is an exceptional talent and wouldn't be phased by the step up to Origin level IMO.

He also has a combination with Cronk in the halves for Melbourne, having played there numerous times already.

I think he is our man for 5/8 in Game III.

I'm not saying he isn't an exceptional talent but he's not a 5/8. Munster in the centres absolutely but in the halves I just don't like it.

His support play when McGuire busted thru on Wednesday night was first class .. it's still in the old boys blood ...was bloody funny

I watched the replay looking for this and couldn't see it?

Thinking outside the box, will Walters want the best 17 or will he try and stick with positions.?

EG Smith played a lot of link play in game 2, could he play 6 and Jake Friend play 9?

Munster at 6 is the obvious choice but it's a big call to throw a debutante into a decider at 6. We are not spoiled for choice, Hunt is out of form, Norman surely is not an option at this level ATM, Milford is out and DCE it seems is out of favour altogether.

Another change I think is possible is Sam coming back for Glasby. He's had his kick in the arse and bringing him back for a swansong at Lang Park would provide him with the chance to lift one more time.
Thaiday ? Why wouldn't you have Kaufusi instead, a guy who plays 80 minutes every game, has combinations already with Melbourne, scored 7 tries this year and is younger, heavier, fitter and in far better form ? It's only Thaidays experience that is where he has any superior claim, every other stat he is way behind. If Cooper and Hess were ideal for Thurston then Kaufusi is ideal for Smith, Cronk ,Slater and potentially Munster !

The only reason you'd go Thaiday is he's been a part of the system for a lot longer and would know his role. We saw how easily exposed the newby in Glasby was in D so there'd be a concern of that happening again potentially. Kaufusi will be there next year if his form maintains for sure though.

Rewatched game 2 again . Moose is also guilty in the 1st Glasby miss . He didn`t cover the space behind the ruck from marker . Left Glasby in a bad situation .

True but he should have made the tackle.

Mmm, some merit to your argument but I don't agree with Kaufusi being unfamiliar with the role ! When you consider his Melbourne teammates would be the ones getting the ball to him and his excellent understanding with Slater as well I'm pretty damn sure he'd be the best qualified to run off them. Kaufusi makes big numbers in defence with the Melbourne spine but it's his try scoring and endurance that makes him a standout and qn obvious selection...what more can you do in a season ? Thaiday by comparison, in the same role has been average if we are being kind but he isn't anywhere near as fit as Kaufusi. Anyway....my opinion matters little.

Just as a comparison, sure stats don't mean too much but still

Off loads: Thaiday 3.....Kaufusi 11
Line breaks: Thaiday 2...Kaufusi 9
Tackle busts: 19 for both
Trys: Thaiday 3..Kaufusi 7
Thaiday has fewer errors but he is on the field for less time by about 20 mins a game. Kaufisi has 200 more tackles to his name !!!

Personal choice I suppose, I would rather trust Sam given the situation

I'm not buying into all this storm combination.

This is Munster's first year at 5/8 so this combination is only about half a season given byes, injuries and origin.

Munster also has just about zero combination with slater given he's played fullback for the last 2 years whilst Slater has been injured.

And before you bring in that he's had a full off season at 5/8... he also had a full off season last year at left center. As that was the position he was set to play with Green at 6

He did play footy before the NRL didnt he?

With Billy, Cronk and Smith??? I doubt it

Clearly not what I meant. He has played 5/8 and has a combination with the other Storm players., just because he hasn't played heaps at 5/8 with the Storm won't matter that much IMO. Anyone else they bring in will be in a worse position than Munster in any case.

Clearly not what I was talking about... as I clearly stated the combination and nothing to do with him at 5/8
