Time for Milford to go

**** people over think things, it’s like they have nothing better to do so they concoct theories and assumptions out of things that aren’t there.

It was a bad miss by Milford, nothing more and nothing less. It is t because he is playing halfback or whatever else.

Vunivalu was in his blind spot so he thought he was only shepparding from
Chambers and whoever else was there.

Pretty much. He fucked it up because he's a human. Nothing else.

Mate go learn something about risk management and have a think about it.

People make mistakes but usually it isn’t just because. That can happen yes but doubt was the case here. Milf is usually quite good cleaning up behind.

The systems and pressures they are put under makes uncharacteristic errors far more likely. He looked fatigued mentally.

He’s had 3 years to adapt to being a half and it’s not working. The more you force the issue at this point the less results and potentially more mistakes you will get.

Mate....literally only minutes before the brain snap, he just scored a spectacular try using his own individual brilliance. One would have thought his confidence and state of mind (albeit it, briefly) would have been sky high, rather than being mentally fatigued.

Risk management? How does any of that have anything to do with risk management?

IMO he’d summed up that a dropout would be devastating for them as they were under the pump defensively. A 7-tackle set from the 20 would be a massive help. He gambled, he lost.

The ball looked it was going dead and Milford would have been able to block anyone from getting to it.

Then the ball took a wicked bounce.

It was a very lazy block though. You could see him clock off once he assumed it was going out.

I think he thought Oates was going to stop anyone from getting to the ball, but that didn't happen.

He could have certainly done a better job at it.

Why mistakes happen and managing the risk of them happening. Aka human factors studies.

Yeah he just had huge moment and likely clocked off a bit after as he was already red lining at that point.

I do agree he was calculating dropout was a big cost to the team but he was paying attention and when ball took a turn made a half effort to cover it.

Anyway can agree to disagree but my point remains and I doubt can disagree with: guy cannot be expected to manage the game, be only kicker, score a try or two a game and setup others, support runners (no one else is), do front line defence, cover a shot fullback and essentially lead the team because Boyd sure as hell isn’t. In other words be Darren Lockyer in his later years.

Need to set realistic goals based on his strengths otherwise won’t get our value out of him. For me that is support runners, chime in with runs and offloads when he sees the opportunity, second or third receiver in backline movements, ongoing work on defence so not to be a turnstile or put excessive pressure on others, and option kicker. Value for money with tries and assists will take care of itself once he feels free to play to his strengths and doesn’t have anything on his mind other than play what is front of him. Over time he will develop in a natural progression with a little added responsibility each year so by time he is late 20s could be expected to game manage more as he slows down and hopefully gets wiser.

Maybe all those fat jokes had milf thinking he had more blocking girth.

You don't risk such a thing when the game was tight. Jump on the ball and cop it on the chin, hero to zero very quickly.

I would like to think a mistake made in the dying minutes of a game you've essentially lost already, after trying to single handedly run the halves job, might cut you some slack, but apparently not!
I think that was one of his best games, regardless of his error costing a try. He never stopped competing and almost single handedly willed some self-belief in a team, largely bereft of confidence.
He made mistakes but they were forgiveable. I think we need to be prepared to accept somehing like that when the game is on the line.
I found more fault in the rest of the spine that was very inept for the most part. Our backs were pretty ordinary too in defence.
That said, it was a high quality game against good opposition and we shouldn't discount the positive impact that will have on the younger players. The likes of isaako will learn from it.

My bad, it seems so obvious now.

You’re right bother asking why anyone does anything. Let’s all go what looks like the current Wayne Bennett plan of no matter how sh*t you play, how bad your attitude, how unfit you are, where you could improve or how unsuited you are for the job as long as you can hobble on one leg you have a job for life! Pesky little questions and theories just get the way of being a good bunch of blokes loving dad and getting their payday.

So someone doesn't agree with the point you put forward, so lets not bother discussing things?
