NEWS Seibold is already changing the Broncos

I thought spwn was talking about how those articles, while factual, make out that small changes like turning the radio on is some massive cultural shift. And the whistle, well the whistle just confirms it.

It's not that the changes aren't fact. It's that they're not a big deal and they're being made out to be.

Cheers, Nashy. Perfectly articulated what I was struggling to express.

A big deal is being made but it’s not club PR. It’s a journalist who has lost his political meal ticket and needs the new guy to like him. Note all the gushing. Old and new line and former employees.

I always wondered why the broncos would train at a shit hole like Purtell park. But I swear there was a picture recently of Bennett holding a whistle at training.

Only one field at Red Hill so summer was spent getting it perfect and no training on it. Now there is the new centre no real need to go to Wests’ ground.

Bagged was wrong, I apologise. I was actually going to edit that out after I wrote it. Strongly opposed, hold to higher standards, resistant. Take your pick out of them though?

Come on now, bennett also had a much stronger and experienced rep level team in those days. It was the steongest in the comp on paper, ours is unproven and young. On top of that, “top 4 team” sounds great but it is twisting reality a little bit, the fact is there was only 5 or 6 finalists in those days. Every team knew this at the start of the season, brisbane were still expected to get in every year due to the squad they had but bennett failed twice. I find it funny that the same rules didnt apply to him with the benefit of hindsight that apply to seibold. If he doesnt make the finals twice you will be among the first on here to call for his sacking, even if it was a top 6 finals series lol...
It's really neither, believe it or not I don't have to have strong opinions on him.

This is what I think of Seibold

His first year in coaching was very promising
Rabbits fading out like they did is worrying
I really enjoyed watching the Rabbits, their attack was arguably the best in the game
He has only coached for a year.

I'm not at all interested in "I told ya so". I don't have an axe to grind, I want premierships, that's all. Whoever takes us there is my favourite coach. There's really no point discussing the 90's though, totally different

This is the only part of your post(s) that is leading you astray. Has anybody on here called him an excellent coach? I think we're all in wait and see mode, so is the media. It's clear that the Brisbane media & fans are both equally excited at the prospect of having a fresh start with a guy who evidently isn't afraid to put his own twist on things. If that leads to fluff PR pieces daily and a bunch of people posting how much they love him already, so be it.

I think your problem is that you're mistaking excitement of a fresh start for expectation of immediate premiership success.
I don't know if anyone has, but yes, I think Seibold is promising, but there's also some real concerns when you sign any coach on for 5 years on big money. Maybe some people can be excited and ignore that, power to them. I'm a bit more anxious about signing any coach to 5 years with only 1 year on his NRL resume. I REALLY want him to do well and I think he will but I'm not totally sold either.
I don't need to disagree about anything. Your posts over the last month have set the tone, and saying you aren't bitter doesn't make it so. It may not be about the new coach, but it definitely is about the old one, you know... the one who was booted out the door via voicemail and email. LOL

I wasn't bitter about a new coach. Hook wasn't a good coach, and regardless of him needing to go, at least he had integrity, and didn't play manipulative games behind the scenes despite the way Bennett weaselled himself back into the Broncos, which was way more backhanded than how Seibold moved into the position now. Didn't hear you whinge about the bullshit PR then...

Btw, (admittedly with a clear exception of 2015, which I am more and more convinced had Walters' fingers all over it), I pretty much knew it was going to be more of the same, boring Bennett ball competitive throughout the season, out with a whimper when it matters. It may satisfy you, but not me.

I think the Broncos offer to move him up into the hierarchy and away from the field was a perfect fit, so we could benefit from his qualities, while not suffering from his flaws, but he showed Bennett really is all about Wayne, and got himself burnt this time, which is fucking Karma at its best, so as far as I'm concerned...

It's about time the Broncos moved into the new millenium coaching wise. Welfuckingcome Anthony Seibold!
I think your apparent excitement in seeing WB out the door shows you have a lot more invested in this than I.
Good for you, I hope this time next year I can be as excited as you are and feel the club was totally justified in making the move.

And yeah, I was not going to whinge about PR back then, we were actually a mess in the 6 years he left. If he had to come in and change the hot water temp, so be it.

As far as I'm concerned; who cares if its fluff, undeniable hard-fact or something in between?
It's much better than reading, day after day, about Matt Lodge's NYC rampage, the Broncos going after Bellamy, Green or every coach / player possibly available or the untenable coaching circus.
Seriously, most of that dribble was vomit inducing.

Finally, the club isn't being dragged through the mud multiple times a day - that's something to be happy about.
As fans, we support the Broncos, so as much as a lot of us don't want to admit it, every time there is a Broncos related article, most of us want to read it.
Finally, those articles are positive instead of negative - I reckon that's something to get excited about.

FTR - Bennett has been a great coach, his record suggests the best ever. But I believe he's past it. There's absolutely a strong chance he'll prove me wrong, but I don't think that was happening whilst he remained at the Broncos.
Also, rightly or wrongly, it's pretty safe to say that Bennett has been a big reason behind the media driven agenda against this club (although galvanising, inspiring and great at the time, the "You will not divide us" episode is a great example of this). Hopefully now we can rid ourselves of the massive hatred some of the media had against Bennett on a personal level and start afresh.
That's probably a bit naive, as I am sure they'll return to slamming us when the honeymoon is over, but let's just enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm excited about seeing what the future holds with some fresh ideas, processes and tactics and am right behind the club, the coach and the fortitude they've shown to make this massive change.
Bring on 2019!

Every new coach has to start from somewhere.
We were stale under WB. What I have seen from AS last season at the Bunnies and during his first week at the Broncos excites me and gives me more hope of success.

Fair enough, give him a 3 year contract then.

When the old school coach with 500+ wins can't get you the premiership, maybe it is time to time to take a punt on the young rookie coach with a modern approach to the game

We know Bennett can win a premiership as he’s done it 7 times.

We know seibold can reach a prelim.

actually, we know Bennett USED to be able to win premierships ... he hasn't won one in a decade ... and he can't keep his job because of his reputation and what he used to be able to do ... we wouldn't accept that from a player, why should we accept that from our coach

Does the media and the NRL hate Bennett enough to hand Seibold a premiership his first year at the club? Who has the most enthralling fairy tale this year? Because that’s all that matters when it comes to coaching.

Buzz hates Wayne enough to talk us up (never thought I'd see the day), so I'd say it's a real possibility.

And that’s where I disagree, I believe these are big deals. Using music in training is completely different to what we have been doing and has been proven to have big effects in spot. Moving the awards to a day where the whole club attends, pushing an organisational holistic approach is a big change. The fact that are reported is reporting this positively is neither here nor there and doesn’t make it fluff PR.

Agree to diagree then, I think it's all a load of fluff.

I also think whoever decided to start using the word fluff should be stoned.

I’m sorry, but this is a completely ridiculous statement. If people had that attitude there would be no Bennett’s or
Bellamy’s etc.

Seems like being negative for the sake of being negative to me.

Why would you shoot all this down so much? I get the fake PR stuff, but these things are tangible. I agree even crap coaches get fake PR but that is usually shit like "oh yeah, toughest pre-season ever" "the lads are all buying in" etc. etc. These are tangible, cultural changes he is making, disagree as to whether they are good changes but claiming that it is fake PR just smacks of being bitter that Bennett got the arse.

I'm not cheering for Siebold or his methods. I'm not against them or down on them either. I just think time isthe judge and I'll start raving about AS after he proves his methods prove successful. Two premierships should be evidence enough.

2018-2010 =

With all the Bennett has won 7 premierships talk. Past performance isn't an indicator of future performance.

Too many people get by on their past. That goes for players and coaches.

Seibold is definitely a better option for us moving forward because we needed a change. Whether or not we will be succesesful under him or not, only time will tell. But we need to move on from Bennett. Honestly we should never have gotten him back. We made a huge mistake the first time he left using coaches with no experience etc. Who also came from our system. Change is good.
