THE Broncos will use some recently-retired club greats to help fine-tune the start to the 2019 NRL season.

Justin Hodges, Corey Parker and Scott Prince are all back in the maroon and gold training apparel.
The three will be at training each Friday as players undergo their position-specific training.

Hodges will be on hand for the outside backs, Prince will be looking over the halves, and Parker will be given the boys up front some instruction.

Head coach Anthony Siebold said the trio would provide an impact for the playing group.

"They are just going to come in on Fridays when we are doing our positional specific work," explained Seibold.

"Corey will help Ben Cross with the forwards, while Justin will work with Kurt Richards and the outside backs, and 'Princey' will assist Peter Gentle with the halves.

"They are all guys who have great experience.

"Justin is a Queensland Origin assistant coach this year, Scott is coaching the Queensland under-20s and Corey has played more games as a forward for the Broncos than anyone else.

"The three will be great mentors while we are working specifically on positional play."

The three ex-players had their first session with the squad last Friday, working on different specifics with their appropriate positional group.

Yes the official Broncos website spelled our coach's name incorrectly in an article, no I will not be correcting it.

An excellent strategy by AS

Not only will the knowledge and expertise of these greats help the playing group, but remember that article about the Old Boys being upset Walters didn't get the job?

This helps quash that, if indeed it is true, and if indeed it matters

Well done AS

In Anthony we trust - sorry Nashy.

I rate Prince as a quality halfback or 5/8th for his era but I think it's a stretch to say he was a Bronco's great(not all of that was his fault either, injuries hampered him when he first came to the club and he was past his best at the end of his career when he came back)solid but he was at his best for the Cowboys or Tigers.

As for mentoring, not a bad idea but nothing revolutionary either, saw this under Bennett and you see elsewhere as well. That said perhaps Minto should be brought in to work with the backs specifically for the Storm matches?

Really like this move. Very impressed with what Prince did with the nrlw halves and what hodges did with the QLD under 20's. Yes it's.at a much lower level than what is required at the nrl but all 3 are not long retired and know what it takes to be an nrl level player. Nothing to lose, why not..

Also, yes prince isn't a legend of the club but it'd be a bit harsh on him if they singled him out as the only non-legend of the 3. He has been working with the club since he retired from playing too, it's not just the players who make the broncos the club it is. .

Great initiative. I like the fact that it’s not just one previous legend e.g. a forward assisting the entire team. Seibold has specifically targeted a Broncos mentor who has played in their respective positions.
Good work I’m impressed by Seibolds immediate influence. Can’t wait to start the season.

If they are geting Brocnos greats involved, hopefully they get Minto in to teach the wingers a thing or two.

You can’t teach ‘Mintoness’, you either have it or you don’t and few have it.

Also heard that he's sending the halves down to NSW to work with.... Matty Johns?
Good. He's got a brilliant footy mind. Will do wonders for their game if true

Seibold is going in hard on Milf and Niko this off season it seems. He certainly knows where the biggest issues in the team structure are. The man is no dill.

I’m hoping Macca is included with these guys, at times last year there seemed to be a bit of a de-link between our halves and hooker and if we can get them all on the same page that’ll make a world of difference.
