Haha **** thank god finally the coach has clarified to everyone that there is no difference between lock and prop. We can stop debating whether someone is a lock or prop for as long as Seibold is our coach.

And if you meant in the coaches mind, you certainly didn't type it that way. And I would bet Seibold also wouldn't agree that there is no difference between a lock and a prop, he would just acknowledge in his current setup he likes his lock to play like a prop. He is a student of the game and a smart man. He would accept there isn't a one size fits all approach.

Anyway, I think the athletes in the NRL these days are huge.. Especially in the middle.

Most hookers aren't the biggest in stature so it's just preferable to have three big props in the middle of the field. The lock is usually just the most dynamic of the lot in either defence or attack. Props are generally the largest.

I like the Cowboys middle three

10. Jordan McLean
13. Jason Taumalolo

Ours will look very similar

8. Matthew Lodge
10. Joe Ofahengaue
13. Tevita Pangai Junior

Just because he has said TPJ is a middle forward and that Lodge, Offa and TPJ are leading the way, I don't think means they will certainly be the starting 3.

If they are, I still think our bench would be Sua, Fifita, Haas, Taga/Mago.

If anything, I think the sentiment that he appears to be going with size spells the end of Fensom being in the team.

I do feel like we have the best balance with Fensom at 13, Offa and Lodge to start with TPJ, Fifita, Sua and Haas on the bench. Solid defensive start still with im pact with Lodge, and then a lot of impact off the bench.

I agree, Fensom and McCullough would be useful in the middle because they'd get through the most tackles in every game we play. Gives our power forwards like Tevita the ability to expend more energy in attack.

Lodge, Ofahengaue and Pangai are our best starting props/locks long term
 
Also, with the talk of fifita still being young. Of course he is. But he started in a hell of a lot of games in 2018 and played some big minutes. Having a reduced role on the bench I think is being careful enough. I highly doubt he will start any games other than origin / injury. so will likely play 20-30 minutes most weeks.

Depending on how Seibs uses our rotation players and their versatility it will be interesting. Offa, TPJ, Lodge and Haas are all very fit for their size. with Offa, TPJ and Lodge all being able to do 60 minute games no worries. Hass is obviously young but by all reports he is one of the fittest in the club. Similarly, players like Gillett, Glenn, Sua and Fifita all appear very fit and able to play big minutes. The only reason I think the club may be better going with tagatese/mago instead of fensom is they are both more suitable to playing up front if required.

I agree they are our best starting options long term. I'd like to see the starting team be Lodge, Offa and Fensom until after origin period. After the origin period our younger players will be a bit more experience and be able to provide more impact off the bench and we can afford to start TPJ. I think at the moment, for the early part of the season, we just lose far too much impact by starting him.
