2019 Broncos Line-up

Out of all the games I watched this weekend, we were only better than the Bulldogs and even then not by much. Hoping to see some seriously big improvements because the cowboys are looking sharp (next week's challenge) with Kahu smoking Boyd based on performance and teams like the Rabbitohs, roosters, warriors, tigers, Newcastle were all on another level. And I'm usually super positive and a Boyd supporter out of habit.

One year older, which is also what he wanted.
I bet he wanted Smith and JT too, but we can’t always have everything we want in life.

Hell, Tim Sheens managed to pull together a bunch of, what most would consider at least, average first graders, relative no name rookies (at the time) and a tinge of class sprinkled through to win a premiership.

Fact is though, Bennett had 4 years to assemble the squad he wanted and was given complete, unobstructed control of the football department to do so.

He simply didn’t deliver the ultimate prize in those 4 years.

Fact also remains, he all but inherited the 2015 squad (Blair (who was seen at the Tigers as an overpaid flop) and Boyd were the only big names he brought with him, Milford was already signed and was still a relative rookie) and we only went backwards from there.

You’re right, nor was Flegler I wouldn’t imagine.
But they were both Broncos contracted players, so their not being in the top 30 was Bennett’s call.

Flegler i understand, but Staggs was a complete balls up

Will we ever see the Milford of 2015 ever again... so sad.

I think you are being a little harsh on Bennett mate tbh. He clearly set his sights on fixing up our poor recruitment of young guys and we will reap the benefits for years to come now. He was building towards what Seibold has inherited. I think if he wanted to do things short term we would have seen a lot more players of the Blair ilk come in. Saying that, i do feel we should have done better in the scheme of things than we did. As i say with Seibold, its a high pressure job, if you want it, be prepared for people to expect you to be contenders.

In Bennetts defence, we lost out on the halfback he wanted because the Titans wanted to pay him double his worth, and we had a great pop at getting in Cam Smith as well ( even though i think he played us ). Those two would have probably seen us as premiers at some point.

Manly??

In saying that I've not seen a team anywhere near what the storm were either.

I'd say the storm look ten fold better than any other team and we look about on par with a number of other teams

Souths were awesome. Let's not forget that game was played in the rain.

Forgot about manly. They were woeful. Round 1 doesn't mean shit which is really a good thing but all the hype over our pre-season and we were generally flat footed, error riddled, out of position and kicked poorly. The positive is that footy is back and I'm pumped for it. Plus we will only improve every week.
Also I don't think storm were as good as the Rabbitohs, maybe not much better than the roosters .

Of the losing sides so far, I'd rank them thus:

Roosters
Broncos
Dragons
Manly
Bulldogs

The majority of those sides were finalists last year including the premiers. In short, R1 don't mean shit.

And the gap between our performance and the Dragons performance was daylight, just shows the difference between class sides and shite sides, I'm not concerned in the slightest about our game after watching some of the other teams running around at the moment, we'll piss it in to the top 6 even if we don't click straight away.

I know it’s early. But Coach Bennet was never the problem at the Broncos. He never had the cattle to do the job. Now he has the cattle.
Just hurts thinking it, but hell saying it now "Rabbitohs will take out the 2019 title."

If Reynolds or SB, both walking injuries, go down then they will struggle to make the eight. Their depth is almost as bad as the Cows'.

We would have beaten the Cows (they were bad outside of JT13 who was freakish and Morgan), Dragons, Tigers, Dogs, Manly, Knights, and Sharks. The storm were the clear best team of this round IMO, they just turned up like it was round 20.

I dunno if it was clear, the Warriors pretty much made mincemeat of the Doggies. Now Doggies were shit, but still, it's hard to say the Storm were the clear best. It would have been good to see them and today's Warriors playing each other.

The Roosters were horrible, was I watching a different game to others?

The Rabbits were good but good lucky bounces left, right and centre.

Crazy how the storm have utilised the same structures for so long yet no one has really figured out how to beat them.

Mmmm, beg to differ. The club with the best record against the Storm is Cronulla I believe. I wrote about this two years ago, Cronulla used the oldest technique from the rugby league playbook, bash **** out the *****.
