Parcell was an exciting prospect but he obviously isn't interested in playing at a high level. He has ruined his progression by playing in England and to be fair, he's not even doing that well over there. He tore apart Salford but other than that, Leeds have been terrible all year, only winning one game. With players like Watkins, Hurrell, Lolohea, Merrin, T. Briscoe, Myler, Cuthbertson and Jones-Buchanan around him they should be doing far better. If people are expecting a dominant hooker who can control a game and make the right choices, Matt Parcell is not that player.

Now if we want a bench hooker to come on for twenty minutes and have a bit of an impact, Parcell would be perfect.

Fair points but the difference is those 2 have far more runs on the board than Niko and Milf and are quite clearly rusty and finding their groove still. Last Thursday looked like business as usual from our 2.

You say fair points and then argue unfair points? Cleary and Maloney look rusty but Milf and KNik look business as usual despite Milf not playing a single trial game before the season? Milf had come on in leaps and bounds with his kicking last year, he had become quite a good controlling half. He didn't look anything like that on Thursday.

I actually think the Panthers were dominated in the middle...despite their big name forwards the Eels bashed the shit out of them. Both Cleary and Maloney went missing for large spells. And if I were a Panthers supporter I wouldn't be too concerned because it was only round 1. My point is that I want to see what our halves can do behind a dominant forward pack, and after a couple of rounds before I make any judgment. If Seibold can get our forwards playing close to their potential Milf and Kodi will improve leaps and bounds.
 
Must say, I’m getting awfully sick of these ‘Milf and Knick must get better’ articles.

What if they can’t? How long do we wait before that conversation gets taken up? (Not so much here, but more broadly).

Not sure that this is the right place to post this but..
On Thursday night, prior to our opener with the Storm, I was flicking around and landed on ch9 - very rare, as I always watch the footy on Fox.
It must have been just before kick off, and they went through the panel and asked for their tips. When it came to Locky, he said he thought the Storm would be too strong, and it would take time for things to jell under Seibold.
At the time, I thought this was a little odd.
Not too sure what to take out of this..Isn't Locky on the Broncos board, and also a significant figure in sacking Bennett and replacing him with Seibold?
I was excited for this game and thought we could have FINALLY beaten the storm with all this off season chat about how well training was going, how fit we were, how the halves were going to fire, how we have the best pack in rugby league blah blah..

I understand he has to put his ch9/professional hat on, but i could never imagine the likes of Thurston or Slater (also on the panel on the night) tipping against their teams, and they're not even significant figures at the club (at board level.)

It left me feeling a little uneasy as to how this season is actually going to play out, also how the preseason under Seibold genuinely went. I fully understand and expect Seib's plays and structures to take time, however for mine, Locky wasn't displaying too much confidence on Thursday night, and I don't think Friday against the Cowboys will be any easier..

I think he is being realistic, it will take time to gel, just like it did for Seibold at Souths. He is changing the entire way we play and that will take time, habits are hard to break and a preseason alone will never be enough. You need to practice your new schemes in real game scenarios to work out the old habits you will automatically go to under pressure.

I am glad Locky is talking like this and not just fanboying. Maybe people will actually listen to this and stop being shocked and ready to lynch when we aren’t performing in our new style straight away.

Things aren't going to change overnight, they may not change for the next decade. Basically a rookie coach overseeing a roster that is weaker than last year's. My expectations are definitely low and if Seibs can get these guys into the playoffs, then he gets a pass mark from me. A premiership is at least four years away though unless there is a complete overhaul of the spine and you need other sound options to undertake that of which there aren't.

You do tend to take a more pessimistic view than most, so not surprising your expectations are low. Negativity is not always a bad thing mind you.

I’m of the opinion that while certain players in this side are in certain positions currently, this side will never really contend, though possibly get as far as they did in 2015 but still have that inability to close out when the big moments come. Hope to be proven wrong though as you do I’m sure.
