Pisses me off we are without 2 of our best forwards in Lodge and Haas. I'd be pretty confident with those 2 in the team...I don't know how how we're going to stop this Cows pack without them?
Too big and too strong in the middle for us

This is a game to kick early in, turn those forwards around constantly. Therefore, Macca won’t do it.
He kicked early against the Storm too, which I thought was a good tactic considering how they were dominating us, I'm sure you saw the live thread when he did it.....

I was of the understanding that he asked for a release, which I was against giving him.

Didn’t know that I thought he got punted because the broncos saw an opportunity to take some salary cap pressure off when the cows sacked barba.
Do you have anymore info about that?

Yeah sorry, I was being sarcastic. He really shouldn’t have been kicking on the third, the players had just gotten through a mountain of defense and were out on their feet, a few more runs would have given them some more time off tackling. Had he kicked it out, it was a good idea but he didn’t, not even close.

My biggest problem (and he has a few) with the guy is he lacks game awareness and ability to execute.

All the talk about the halves ? How much time did we spend in the Storms half let alone their quarter ? That`s when halves get to show off . Not coming out of their own half .
This is when having halves/hooker who can kick deep, ideally for a 40/20 helps. Ricky Stuart was the master at this.

Mind you, not much point when no one bothers to chase after Milford's kicks.

I see what you mean, however it's one of those risk vs reward questions. IF he kicked it out, sweet, we have a rest, or IF he kicked a 40/20 massive game changer.

Do we have a crack at him for trying and failing, or do we say better luck next time.....or Macca sucks, he should never kick again.

Personally, I thought it was ok, our other options weren't doing any better at that stage. It was worth a go I think.

Should be Roberts or Milford’s job

Darius would be in the middle of the field . Milf left , Kodi right .
Jimmy is one slot wider from the ruck . TPJ making it a bit obvious ATM will get intercepted if he keeps showing the ball before actually releasing it . Either pass or get to your elbows and knees frigging around trying to get out a pass that is not on doesn`t help our momentum and play the ball speed and wastes a lot of energy from TPJ . On their line sure its worth the gamble . In our half not so much .

The guy that fucked us the most was Michael Morgan. He should be easier to handle with the new role, hopefully.

Truth , but it was often Granville going for a scoot or dummying that starts that stuff .

I had almost forgot about Morgan . His groin had him a half pace by season`s end . But he is a very very good player and great competitor .
Give him his dues . He`s def a threat .

You have to use what's available against teams. Tevita either has to be used for offloads or told to tuck his head in and hit the line as hard as he can. Thats how Offa is making the metres he does. I think he has the ability to get the ball away clean a lot of the time. Sure, he might throw some bad offloads but he will never learn when he can or can't by not trying.

Perhaps he saw the writing on the wall and requested a release because he knew he had no future at the Broncos.

According to reports in the past couple of years, Broncos were trying to offload him and Glenn.

If Roberts isn't playing this week it would have been Kahu. I really don't see the shame in not being in the top 17 if you are a versatile forward or back. You know you are going to get your shot at some point in the season.

I'm happy with the subtle changes Siebs has made for this week. Tells guys that the pressure is on but doesn't disrupt team cohesion too much yet.

I wonder if at some point throughout the season we might see something like this:

1. Roberts
2. Oates
3. Bird
4. Boyd
5. Isaako
6. Milford
7. Dearden
8. Lodge
9. Macca
10. TPJ
11. Fifita / Glenn / Su'A
12. Gillett
13. Joffa

14. KNik
15. Haas
16. Flegler/Carrigan (alternating to improve fitness / exposure, etc)
17. Glenn / Su'A / Fifita

I'm most interested in the forwards battle. If we get rolled by them, I feel the conversation about our forwards either being overrated or some of whom are not yet ready for NRL could be started. I feel Dragons if/when they get DeBelin back, Roosters, Shonkies and Souffs at least and maybe Warriors (though need to see how they go against tougher opposition) are all packs who will fancy their chances against us if we are rolled by Melbourne and NQ in consecutive weeks.

I feel like our forward pack did really well against the majority of the good packs in the comp last year. We just struggle against Melbourne because their wrestling is far superior to ours. Because of that they get quicker play the ball which helps Can Smith look like an absolute genius whilst carving us up.

I don’t think Knik will get dropped all year.
