I really wished Milford’s inside ball to Boyd was fair and also wished bird scored that try. Both plays could have broken the shackles for both players. Oh well on to next week

Yeah I think milf needs a confidence booster , can't believe they butchered that try (Oates, bird).

That game towards the end of 2017 when we played the Bulldogs, and they were trying to take our forwards out with cheap shots? So our forwards just fucking monstered them every tackle, dragged them backwards, and had them scared to even take a run? That was our entire first half last night. I was in awe.

It’s a long season, and they’re not going to be able to maintain that level all year. But it’s good to know it’s there, and hopefully they’ll get the balance right and pull that intensity out when we need it, in the big games.

1. Boyd - Pretty happy with his game. Ran hard, was barking orders in the huddle and made no stupid mistakes. Now if only he could play like that every week. 6
2. Oates - Bagged a couple and was fairly solid running us out of our end. Also scored me 90 bucks on FTS so he gets the crackers. 8
3. Roberts - GO YOURSELF MAN. The kick he did on zero for the repeat set worked out well for us in the end but he had space to move. Go yourself boy. Show us why you're in the side. Otherwise he was quite solid and happy to see his back pulled up good. 6
4. Bird - His best game in our colours. Hit hard in defence, ran hard in attack, shored up our left side really well and made it a mission to support Milf in tackles. He may make his signing worth it yet. 7
5. Isaako - Probably his worst game in first grade. Was far from his sharpshooting best in goalkicking which cost us a 40 point drubbing of the nemesis and was never sure of himself under the high ball. I'm confident its a one off though as he works incredibly hard. He'll bounce back. 3
6. Milford - Had a couple of decent kicks in general play but otherwise was still incredibly quiet in a dominant side. I'm pretty concerned about him. It's like he's been rattled mentally by an injury and is scared to go nuclear. Seibold needs to sit him down and get it sorted. When you're getting outplayed by Nikorima, you know you've got issues. 4
7. Nikorima - Didn't shame himself. Ran when he saw some opportunities, had a few good kicks and was very unlucky to not to get that beautiful long kick which barely trickled dead in the 2nd half. Lets hope he can keep it up. 6
8. TPJ - Absolute. Monster. Came out with a mission to demolish everything in front of him, especially JT2, and boy did he pull it off. The young Lion came in, mauled the older pride leader and made a statement I hope he backs up consistently. Sadly for us, he may have just played himself into the Blue. Couldn't have done any better playing Prop. He gets the 10
9. McC - He remains the biggest weakness in this side other than underperforming halves. He tackled less tonight, yet still seems very slow, especially the dummy half runs he makes which barely dent the line. His fanboys need to accept that he's plateaued. 4
10. Joe O - Perfectly serviceable work in the middle though a tad overshadowed by others like TPJ and Flegler. Can't recall any penalties or errors from him. Good stuff. 7
11. Glenn - The least impressive starting forward of the night. Couldn't bend the line and just generally was far from standing out. Might need to look over his shoulder a bit towards the young blokes flying up his ass. 5
12. Fifita - As opposed to Glenn, he did pretty well. Ran with some starch and defended well. Would like to see a bit more from him in attack going forward but seems pretty safe. 6
13. Gillett - I think it's time he moved back to the edge. He certainly isn't shaming himself at 13 but his best qualities clearly aren't being utilized there. I wanna see that hole running again. 5

14. Staggs - Had limited minutes but jagged himself a try assist off a good run towards the end. He is useful as a utility option but I can see Turpin troubling him if McC continues to underwhelm. 5
15. Su'a - Speaking of underwhelming. He just hasn't had a very good start to the year. He looks out of shape and just pretty mediocre in general. May be on shaky ground with Lodge and Haas yet to return. Needs to put in fast. 4
16. Flegler - Welp, this young man has a big future. Considering this was his 2nd game of first grade, he was very impressive. Has at least earned some time to grow on the bench for a few rounds. 7
17. Fensom - Not much to say for him. Came on very late and only made a handful of tackles. Will get some bench time when we're inevitably torn apart by Origin but otherwise, will be lucky to get beyond 18th man. 4

I don't agree with boyd, knik or sua. Boyd and knik were two of our best and sua was solid as.

Just an idle observation, there is a bit of Ben Hunt in Michael Morgan in my view. I think Morgan is probably a better player, but he does seem to have a bit of that head drop in him when things are not rolling his way. When they are both on and things are running their way, they are both good to really good players, but if things get a bit hard or are not going right, they both seem to become very negative. That is one quality I like about Maloney, he can stuff up, but it is like water of a duck's back, does not impact him at all.

Re the game last night, much improved on many fronts, but still a lot to work on and work with next week for the coaching staff. If we had of taken all of our opportunities last night and the goal kicking was on there was easily 40-50 on offer.

We need to see that sort of effort and commitment maintained next week, incremental improvements in the games of McCullough and Boyd, and more improvement from Milford.

I never said I would be a humble loser, only a humble winner, so go fuk yourself [emoji6][emoji6][emoji6][emoji6]

How are our rejects turning out? Are you enjoying Moose’s fourth tackle settlers? What about Opacic’s runs, have you figured out if he is stationary or actually moving yet? Took me a while too.

According to ARL Rules book February 2019 Section 10 in the notes section seems to say that there has to be a catcher for a pass to be forward. Have I interpreted this correctly?
What does it actually say? That is what I was thinking last night. Don’t you have to deliberately pass it forward to another player?

ANyone found a replay of that TPJ murder on Lolo where Lolo's knee issue happened. What a tackle, them eyes. Beast mode.

Got it in one. Schoolboy errors both of those, let alone first grade players.

No, not in Isaako’s case. How can it be a forward pass, much less a deliberate forward pass when he isn’t passing it to someone. The refs got it wrong and people excusing them just perpetuates the problems they have.

I think people are understating the quality of Kniks contribution to that win. He really showed his potential to organise the troops and steer the attack. And Boyd's organisation of our defence was spot on for most of the game also. KNik also kicked really well. Was Milf playing? There was a bloke that looked like him but I'm not sure if he was a ref assistant or just examining the turf quality .

I agree, how could it possibly be a forward pass if it wasn't a pass?

Is someone who gathers a grubber in the in-goal and then throws out over the dead ball line to concede a line drop out doing a deliberate forward pass? I've seen Darius and various other fullbacks do that, never seen it called a penalty for deliberate forward pass.

It may fall under the gaining an advantage by "throwing" the ball forward rule?

He is a deadset freak. And the fact that he monstered a player like Taumalolo at only age 23 shows how high his ceiling is, provided his hammies hold out.

Regardless of that I would still be locking him down for at least 4 years.

If someone had the ball in their own in-goal and threw it over the dead ball line that would go backwards wouldn't it?
