I read Souffs were targeting budget centres, including Shibasaki.

It's such an odd feeling this week leading into the Raiders game. I know that shit is really gonna start hitting the fan if we don't win this week - but I just can't see us winning this game.. (Interesting times indeed.)

I'm almost at the point where I don't want the Broncos to win because it means no changes will be made.

Buggered if (I) know what changes need to be made but I enjoy reading all the opinions on this forum. At the end of the day it's the guys getting paid to make the decisions that are going to be held accountable. I will try to be patient.

Until Sunday then. Let's see what happens.

Go Broncs.

As long as hes fit.. which I dont think he will be. You dont get over a longstanding Achilles injury in 1 week.

And look at the next 4 games too... eek

Is the Raiders game on ch 9 this weekend?

Yeah looks pretty grim, Sharks, Rabbits, Eagles and Roosters.. 3 of the 4 are battle harden AF compared to our squad. "Boys vs men" springs to mind.

We'll win a few games at some point this year and hopefully have a few positives to take away from the season. Anything more is a bonus.

Been pondering a few things since the weekend and have grown even more confident since then that we are absolute certainties to beat the Raiders. I don't encourage gambling, and forbid my children from having a sportsbet app on their phones, but I would urge anyone with a few spare bucks lying round to get into your local TAB and back our boys to win! There will be a couple of surprises, and a few twists and turns during the game, but we will run out victorious in the end. It will be a pleasant surprise to many, but without hesitation I can put my hand on my heart and say, put this down as our 2nd win of the season, with plenty more to come.

Nashy / Moderation Team - whatever buttons you need to press up there in your systems, please do not forgot to ban me for a period of no less than 30 days should the unthinkable happen and we do not win. If you don't do this, especially you Nashy, I will have lost all my respect for you as an authority figure around here. Thanking you.
If they are a certainty I assume you will be having at least a few bucks on them.
Is that right?

Of those games only the Eagles looks doable although I hope I'm wrong and we go on a winning run.

If ball control doesn’t improve and the missed tackles count is still high we won’t beat any of those teams.

I think it's also a reflection on how little game time Joe O and TPJ in particular have the stamina to remain effective. I just think TPJ is massively overrated. Not that he doesn't play really well but just that he plays so well for such a short time in most games.

I've been saying the same thing for a while too. He needs discipline and consistency if he wants to even think about getting near the top players in the game.
How people compare him to Taumalolo on a week to week basis at the moment is laughable.
Like I love the bloke, but no one is bigger than the badge and if he wants to shop himself around and leave for a $1m season pay packet good luck to him.

Onto the game this week against Canberra - would love to see Carrigan with at least half a game on the field. I think he and Haas will be our club leaders for a good decade.

Recently we've easily had the wood over the Raiders. But the way we've done that is by playing simple, error-free football and allowing the Raiders to implode. It's probably the perfect game for the Broncos right now - settle down, do the 1%ers, and win, or continue to beat ourselves and effectively write off the season with a loss.

Interestingly the Raiders have best defence in the comp so far, which has been their weakness the past few years. However, the teams they've played have been the Titans, Storm, Knights, Cowboys, and Eels. 3 of those teams have been shocking this year, and the Eels self-destructed, with 18 errors and 53% completion, which is just insanely bad.

We may lose, but only if we panic and shoot ourselves in the foot. We really should win this, and kick off our season.

For anyone out there trying to understand why the Broncos are going so badly, you only need to look over the road at the Gabba.

The Lions are off to a flyer so far this year. In 2001 the Broncos had an abysmal opening 9 games which coincidentally was the same year the Lions started to become a massive force in the AFL and went on to win the first of 3 consecutive Grand Final's.

It seems whenever the Lions go well we seem to mostly suck. Maybe Brisbane just isn't allowed to have two good footy sides at the same time, Melbourne and Sydney would never allow it.

For mine this is just about a must win game to keep our finals hopes alive, we have a tough slog of draw and it will be hard for our young forwards to keep the effort up that we will need as the season goes on.

I actually think top 4 is probably a mountain too high to climb now, top 8 is still on the cards but we have to start winning.
