NEWS Dogs attack Brisbane's No.1 Hooker

Got a feeling Canterbury will offer him a better deal than that.
Canterbury are just offering more years than anything.... Broncos probably wanted to give him a year as primary hooker on an upgrade and see where from there... now everyone see a bronco doing well and want a piece

to keep him Broncos will probably have to offer him 2 years minimum

They can but Broncos won't have to to keep him. Brisbane have things Dogs can't offer, close to home, gave him his shot, great relationship with Seibold.

He's not the guy to give all that up to chase money, he's been out in the cold for so long he will take a doona he doesn't want the whole four poster bed.

Hope your right.
Also hope he just knuckles down and concentrates on playing good footy and doesn’t get distracted by all this contract speculation.

Depending on how hard we have to compete with him, I wouldn’t be surprised if Brisbane don’t go too hard to keep Turps. Haven’t they re-signed Paix as they see him as the long term hooker?
Hopefully he doesn’t leave, and some team ie titans or cows end up “poaching” Macca

They way we are going, no one deserves over 500k.
Is there a way to level off all the contracts, (looking at Milford, Bird, Boyd, Gillett)?
You think you are way more elsewhere, then fck off (Hunt).

Lockyer was selfless and re-negotiated his deal to retain juniors, can captain Voyd, 1/5 of Lockyer's calibre do the same?

Player option biting us in the ass

...not at all, in the modern NRL contracts are quite meaningless....we can expect a Warriors approach for Macca next season when Luke walks away...

case in point; recent Broncos weekly podcast made mention of the Panthers and the Gus Gould led retainment of their "core" on 5 year "long" term contracts.....almost none of those same guys are currently with the Panthers...

So long term contracts, player options etc....utterly meaningless in this current era...the clubs hold all the power and if they want you they will keep you, if they don't you go...

I think Canterbury are bemused Turps is even a option for them to chase really...Canterbury would have signed him for 10 years if he had come through their ranks...but yeh I agree a wake up call for us to sit him and his management down and redo his contract. Im 100% confident that's precisely what will happen....after all I've heard nothing whatsoever before today that Turps was looking anywhere else but Broncos, did you..?

Agreed, the bulldogs at the moment are a club in chaos, trying to grab hold of something to stop from sinking.

If he is serious about establishing a long term nrl career, he is better off staying with the broncos where he is currently the choice number 9 and has all the training facilities, support staff he could ask for.

Nobody wants to try and poach McBollocks from us, so that tells us everything we need to know. Lock up Turps. Now.

Not for 500k they dont.

Well, if NRL contracts are meaningless, why the **** are we stuck with boyd and mcbollocks. The contract is all powerful when their is a disagreement and no-one wants to budge. Sure there is some coersion/persuasion and negotiation sometimes to break the contract when it suits both parties, but if someone digs in you're stuck with the terms of the contract.... as we are finding right now... do you think seibold wants boyd and mc stinking the place up for another two years

Easy, just get the Broncs to tell the Dogs to send the contract and we’ll get the Brisbane hooker to sign it.

Nek minut Macca is a Dog.

So you’re saying Macca is Brisbane’s number 1 hooker?

kinda obvious isn't it..??....you can't/dont treat your club captain like that....he has a lot of political capital at the club...

All of that's doubtlessly true but 350,000 a season might turn a head and that's not beyond reason.

I’m starting to think that Macca might be a really good defensive coach. Put him into that role and tie off all loose ends imo.
Why? He's not actually a good tackler.. he just does 2nd man in all game long without offering anything else

After last night’s performance the Dogs can have him.

Heaven forbid he has a bad night in his SEVENTH game. He threw one forward pass, tried a silly flick and coughed up the ball for Hoffman. Law of averages and that, he’s been fantastic otherwise.

I choose to believe McCullough has infected him with mediocrity since they’ve now played together

Lol! That’ll do me. Just goes to show you Macca haters can’t Watch a game objectively. Blaming his poor performance on Macca has to be one of the stupidest things I’ve read in the history of this forum. Suck it up & take your medicine. He was very poor last night & if Macca had of put in the same performance you would of painted this forum with Macca hate and not offered up excuses.
