We were gritty and deserved that. Good win. On a side note, Sammy is starting to piles on the KGs
Nope. He is strong and fit. He might look like he's piling it on but I talked with him for 20 minutes in the Qantas business lounge two or three weeks back and I was struck by his athleticism. He looked solid but definitely not fat. TV adds a lot of weight.

The refs did their best, but we weren't losing tonight. Ashley Klown can eat my ass. Every 50/50 call possible went Penrith's way.

Alas, we've turned a valuable win into a costly one. How many players will we be missing to suspension next week??
Not Dearden or SOS

What did he do some pushups and squats for you or something?

I joke of course.

Great win tonight but some serious decisions need to be made. Firstly Shibasaki cannot continue in the NRL. Again tonight’s poor decision had the risk of pain 12 point turn around against us. Perese deserves a chance.

Haas was great obviously and I am really pleased with Isaako. I honestly don’t think TPJ or Milford will be suspended but I am not 100% sure about Turps. We are still alive and I’m happy with that. I think next year we should have Bird at fullback with Milford at 5/8 and Boyd at left centre. Boyd did ok tonight as well and everyone’s favourite punching bag Macca was good too.

I thought our older players stood up tonight. Macca has made breaks in consecutive matches, and Darius performance was solid. Shibasaki was very good in defence and made some good hit ups. I like that the players most criticized lifted their game.
In fact our defence in general was good with a few chinks here and there.
There was lot of ill-dicipline and I suspect we may pay for it. Our kicking game also was lacking a bit of polish. A point was made that our forwards struggle to hit the gaps (though Haas simply runs over people to make them) and whilst that is true (something Glenn is very good at), they are young and will learn it with experience. If that doesn't put a shiver of fear in our opponents for what that pack will do in a season or two, nothing will.

Yeah I thought Macca was good to.

I say Fifita is still doing fine. Kid is a beast.

Halves aren't creating anything for him, he's getting the ball flat-footed and still plowing through defenders and standing in the tackle.

Once we get some halves running some shapes on the edge he'll go berserk IMO.
I'm sure someone has picked this up already, but wrong Fifita bro

What impressed me the most tonight apart from Payne and Isaacko was the teams defence. They just turned up for eachother time and again. Its a great sign that they want to work for eachother. You always can tell how a team feels about eachother with defence.

The refereeing was a disgrace and I am sure unlike other teams our boys will likely get suspensions. TPJ did not intend what happened and if he gets suspended I will be sick after what Nelson got away with last week.

I just want to say all the boys did well tonight. Even Boyd apart from his silly dummyhalf play. As Huge pointed out I think Seibs has pulled the seige card and I am right behind him on it.

Dunno why you still have to have a pop at Boyd when he didnt play badly tonight. And just because i dont jump on the bag Darius at every opportunity bandwagon doesnt mean he is my " friend ".

I did.

Hes not up to scratch for 6. I can count 3 crucial momentum killers tonight where he spat out useless plays. Two of them camped on their line.

Not just an immortal. The statue of him outside Suncorp will be 50ft high, Solid gold, and embedded with rubies, diamonds, and emeralds.

3. Haas - This young man's career is going to reach altitudes that very, VERY few prop forwards have ever reached. He is a sensation. You're lucky to see players of his quality once every 30 years or more.
2. Isaako - Really happy for him. He's found his form again and is looking like our 2nd most potent backline weapon other than Oates. A double plus many goals. Can't ask for much more.
1. Lodge - I knew I had to give the 1 to another forward, but I couldn't give it to TPJ cause he still has bad habits in his game that are costing us. Lodge was the next best. Another big effort from the big man and just the right amount of enforcer in him, something that Pangai needs to work on.
Good assessment but I'd swap Staggs for lodge... Lodge often gets under rated in general though on here

Boyd is playing in an unfamiliar position and anyone doing so will make mistakes, but I thought he led well with enthusiasm in defence and some good support play.
I think if you are hoping or expecting more you were always destined for disappointment.
Having said that I hope for god sakes we get deaden back. He may not win is a game but, like Turpin he was good, back up line breaks, and organising our attack.

Bit hard when you're playing 1,7 and 6.
I think we should wait and see when we get some halves.
One thing I noticed tonight was Milf was, at least at times, playing as our second dummy half on get out sets.

I think this will become the new norm for fullbacks as it allows them to support the ruck through the middle and if the dummy half goes for a run they usually get a quick ptb and can follow suit with the middle defence retreating... who better to have sitting there waiting for some quick ball then, typically, your best attacking threat.

The first I noticed the tactic was a few weeks back when Turbo assumed the position so it may be a master tactic from Des and works especially well with the two manly hookers (Api & Fainu). Des gives them both a license to run whenever anything is on knowing Turbo will be trailing through the middle or lined up for the next ptb.

Hilarious listening to channel 9 on the manly game on Thursday. It's literally the third or fourth game (I've noticed) that Turbo has been doing it and they didn't really pick up on it. Clearly they don't seem to watch any games other than the ones they commentate on... they just waxed lyrical about how Turbo differs to other fullbacks in that he plays through the middle.

Ahhh no he actually plays through the middle outside the 30m and then reverts back to the current traditional fullback for attacking sets. Turbo is easily the best fullback at the moment and Des is working magic having him at his disposal
