This is the biggest thing to come out of the game... upset we lost but and could easily vent about many things but this is way bigger. It this is allowed to creep into the game it will make the game unwatchable.....

I disagree, this sort of thing has been going on for decades.

The biggest thing to come out of this game is if we had played the whole game like we did in the last 6-8 minutes then we would’ve lapped them. For god sake we had a team down to 12 men for twenty minutes and scored 2 points during that time!

Just watching the highlights from last night, geez Souths scored some good tries. Great footy.

One thing I’ve taken away from last night, **** I’m glad we got rid of both Sua and Roberts. Pair of pea hearted dog *****.

There is only speculation and rumours that the board has blocked him being dropped. It would make sense, it was obvious before the season began that we weren't going to anywhere near winning a premiership, but dropping your captain makes for a PR headache and lots of pressure on the team.

I dont buy the board are involved in team selections one bit, but at the same time, it would explain why they wanted Bennett gone and it makes Seibs a puppet basically. If hard decisions have to be made you make them, you dont worry about PR.

In regards to the pressure comment, we are the Brisbane Broncos, there is always pressure on the team.

Right here. Milford is a fullback, not a half. Milf has never been a half.

The delusional fans are those who believe that Milford was a half for the past 4 years, and then expect that after 4 years in the halves, that he would, in only a few weeks, be back to career best form, which happened to be when he wore a 1.

He needs to stay there for the rest of the year, and next year. If in round 12 next year he's still struggling, which he really isn't that much, then maybe we should consider it.

I think it would be more interesting to see who gave Boyd chance after chance, excuse after excuse, but are also now calling for Milf to go.
I actually think there is an improvement in both Milford and Boyd. Last night Boyd looked like a 5/8 and not a 3rd 2nd rower. Milford looked to get involved. The problem was it was disjointed. That can only change with time and experience. Boyd can kick short too, and should.
By all means, let Milford kick his long spiral bombs and let him have the ball to do his thing, but he must be playing wider in attack. At the moment he is a little bit of everything and not enough of anything. by getting the ball and running sideways, any momentum we generate is lost. It's fine when there is nothing on, but it happens too much, and sometimes when we have the advantage in the ruck. In those circumstances, it is better to let the pass "do the running" as it were and used our backs to isolate defenders on the back foot.
By standing wider in attack it helps stretch defenders who at the moment tend to bunch up. It would also mean that nice run Staggs did on Penrith's 20 would happen more often. Finally our backs could be attacking the line with some set plays, knowing that the ball is going to reach them fairly quickly.
I think, after facing teams with inferior packs we were always going to struggle with this one as souths can pretty well match us and showed it. Still, with those acts of illdicipline, they really should have been put to the sword. Their defence was brave but we allowed them to be. They really should have been worked over in those 10-minute sessions of 12 men. Repeat sets, ball movement to isolate tired defenders, and offloads after breaching the advantage line with back up from more than just our forwards (Staggs did so with Gillet and showed the wisdom of it).

I think Milford's best position can be fullback, but he needs to buy into it to. He needs to play like a fullback, get the ball as a second receiver and support the ball runners. He still tries to play as a halfback, only doing it halfheartedly.
Like I mentioned in the live match thread IMO this is because there is only one half in the team, the other a passenger.
Therefore milf needs to be there to set himself as a kicking option during sets.
But yes he should be supporting the ball carriers more.

I think it is more than just " only one half in the team, the other a passenger." While that is certainly true and important, for mine, the real issue is as much the lack of decent game plan to make best use of the seriously good talent in this roster.

Bash and barge for 4 tackles then the Milford/SOS bomb is simply dreadful football and we are the only team that employes this shitty plan. When we spread the ball, it seems like an afterthought, and talent like Staggs is wasted.

We need consistent hole running on both edges by our back rowers, attacking the line around the ruck with Haas and Fifita but getting the ball on the move and not flat footed. The Gillett try assist is an example of what we should be doing consistently on BOTH sides.

Seriously, last night was so frustrating watching the enormous talent in this roster go to waste. The fact we lost by 2 to a side plying quality football is a testament to just how much brilliance we have in this side

Totally agree.
Was merely commenting on the original post.

One positive at least is after watching the performances of Fifita and Boyd again last night, Boyd will run out of town if his persistence to try and last his contract despite being past it ends up losing us Fifita to Parra.

I think Adam Reynolds sitting down and feigning injury to give his side a rest, reset their d and destroy our momentum is one of the worst things I've seen in Rugby league. If that goes un-addressed it might completely destroy the game. The same way soccer was destroyed to a point where they now have theatre training to work on their fake falls and rolling around like idiots. SHAME ON REYNOLDS, SHAME ON SOUTHS AND SHAME ON BENNETT FOR NOT PUBLICLY SHAMING SUCH TACTICS. He likes to blame storm for ruining the game. Yeah they did but this is way worse. And his two little ex-bronco grubs. Disgusting!

This got me fuming a lot. True momentum killer for us. Sutton bitching when Staggs scored a try & towards the end complaining about everything we do & just holding the ball wanted me to murder the grub(along with scum Roberts).

I’ve cursed the Dragqueens that they wouldn’t win a primer-ship until 2024 & now I am cursing Souffs grubs not to a primer ship before we do. Wayne will not win another primer ship. Period.

I doubt they have ... but dropping a popular captain in the coaches very first season at the club is asking for trouble, and a very good way to lose the dressing room.

It's a delicate situation, and one that i'm sure Seibs has in hand. quite possibly a tap on the shoulder to Boyd, allowing him to move into an off field role at the club (rumoured to be something to do with mental health)

worst case scenario, i see him moving to centers
If he doesn't retire this week - before the last home game - I reckon he'll be back at 5/8th next season. Incidentally, SOS is a 5/8th too. He played there for the Jr Kangaroos.

I completely agree about Milford, and this is exactly what I was saying about him a couple of weeks ago. He’s just not that good anywhere on the field. When he loses acceleration, he’ll have nothing at all.

Thats not quite true........we're watching Milford being forced to play behind a dumb arse and slow as **** dummy half. In the games that Turpin was there.......Milf started to get his groove back.

This is one of the same issues that i started loathing hayne.

They were playing the broncos, thaiday busted the line making a long break, he tried to run over hayne but was tackled. Hayne through his arms back in the tackle and did not move. He looked totally out, even thaiday stopped. The ref stopped the game but when parra all got back onside, he popped up and went back to his position at fullback. I was so pissed, it stopped us from a quick play the ball and try because parra's defence was shot.

There needs to be some action over this weak shit.

Even in junior league if a player is injured, you move the ball 15 metres away and continue unless seriously injured (which winded isnt).

I fear this too, but hope that boyd is in the centres and bird, milf or SOS are the 6.

Milford hiding behind the play and running off SoS hip is what I’m craving. Or he can go wider to Fifita. The possibilities are endless but so frustrating with the broncos

Milf should be sitting in either Hass's or Fafifta's back pocket........ so many half breaks end in nothing because of the lack of a support player. Milford should be shining on the back of these 2 guys alone.

Nothing new to report here. I'm not sure if I feel more butt hurt from the officials or Darius? Either way, I am sore from that loss.

I tell myself to just be patient. In some regards I think think Seibs has done a great job in who he has set free. In all cases I think we have better players at those positions. That said, the Darius selection is beyond painful. Last night we all watched Walker killing it, putting people into spaces, tremendous kicking and compare that to Darius.... you get the idea.

Milf should have a license to roam off these guys. Dearden and Turpins steering from 9 and 7. Not rocket science.

Boyd can sit out his time on the wing with one of the new boys back at 1.

Yeh the result was hard to take but console yourself with the thought of Haas, TPJ being put through a gap to run at the defending centre/winger/fullback one on one close to the line by two real halves and a proper firing dummy half and it doesn't take much to realise that we have some world class strike weapons just waiting to be launched by the right skilful operators.

We're definitely on the up matey.

I am with you Jedhead, I loved the fact that they didn't give up. That likely says more about the team than the fact that we have a few old passed their used by dates out there for sure.
