NEWS Badel: Seibold won't send Darius to QLD Cup

Refer to my previous post re: the playing group.

In regards to the training and coaching staff, they did see it. Why do you think they moved him from Fullback? Why do you think he's likely to lose the captaincy this off-season? I think it's pretty obvious the coaching staff has had enough of it.
If you think the players get less out of video sessions than some yahoos memeing the hell out of a bloke for shits and giggles then I don't know what else to say to be honest. As wolfie and a few others have tried to explain god knows how many times, just because a player is doing poorly doesn't mean they're dogging it.

And with the coaching staff, if they thought Boyd was phoning it in and they moved him to five eight then each and every one of them should be fired immediately. Worse than that. They should be forced to go watch afl for 5 years.

By the time Boyd and Turpin found themselves in the halves, Seibold had little choice. Dearden, O'Sullivan and Paix were injured, Nikorima and T. Boyd were gone and Dargan was a depth player and a hanger on from a previous regime. Again, he wasn't exactly flushed with options and I think your suggestion that he should have gone with a bunch of part-time fullbacks early on in the season speaks to that.

Kahu is a pretty capable fullback tbf, and I think Bird could be as well. But you still haven't said what time of the year you were talking about initially so it's difficult to reply with a decent answer. Seibs certainly had options he could have tried and didn't for one reason or another.

We absolutely need change, but Seibs is still insisting Boyd is going to play. For all we know, he may still be captain. So where do we go from there if either happens

You don't get moved to 5/8 as punishment for not putting any effort in. You get sacked or dropped. They are the only options if the coaching staff have noticed it, which they didn't. What they noticed was two players under performing and tried to move them to get the best out of them. Can we move this into the conspiracy thread please mods.

Well actually I wrote an essay to lynx earlier in the thread, so I'm just repeating myself at this point. For the sake of clarity, I would say that Boyd didn't deserved to be dropped until he was demoted to five-eighth at which point it was the middle of the Origin period and the club was light on options.

Also, Kahu was worse than Boyd this season. To me that highlights the issue because technically Seibs could have moved anyone to fullback or five-eighth, but based on what we saw this season, they wouldn't have changed anything for the better.

So he's either intentionally missing tackles or so bad that he literally can't move laterally, either way he should be gone.

BP has already adequately explained why he wasn't straight up dropped, if you'd like to have a read of the last page or two.

I suppose it's also a "conspiracy" that Seibold moved him to Five-Eighth (and now Centre/Wing) so as to try and avoid getting him in any 1 on 1 defensive situations in broken play? I believe other people might refer to that as common sense, the non-delusional ones among us, anyway.

I already asked this but it may have been lost in all the discussion. @Cult3, why do you seem to take criticism of Boyd so seriously? I think this would be good to know and provide some insight into where you are coming from.

I try to take pride in this forum for some reason and would prefer to not see the same comments and jokes infiltrating every single thread. I have only ever called out the hyperbole or blatant lies because I believe this forum is better than that, but it seems to turn into the LU whenever Bennett/Boyd have been brought up since about 2014. It has nothing to do with Boyd, more so the fact that I don't appreciate the lies people say about any of the players. Things like he gave up when he simply fell over, the players not liking him because he's one of the few adults in the team who doesn't go out as much, saying Bennett groomed him (Seriously this was the absolute lowest) and the rest of the shit I've responded to over the years.

Probably the same way everyone else felt when I made everything about Milford or BG makes everything about Seibold, but because people don't like Boyd it doesn't seem the same.

Thank you for explaining.

1.MCK
2.Roberts.
3.Tedesco
4. In the same game standing there and watching a Roosters player score from a metre or 2 away
5.Turning his back on a bomb vs Eels
6. Not attacking a grubber vs Souths, I could make a case for this happening twice in this game, he fell over again the other time but I'll stick to the one.
7. Falling for a dummy to nobody instead of attempting to tackle the Storm front rower.

That list took a minute to come up with and was off the top of my head, if I went through the tribute thread again I reckon I could easily double the list. I know for a fact there are a few more occasions where he took the softest option every time by attempting intercept instead of a tackle which was the correct option, I also consider those non-efforts.
What about the times he lets the ball bounces over and over and over and over, letting it dribble or roll til it absolutely comes to a pointed stop... Only to pick it up a metre from his try line and tackled with no attempts at advancing the ball.

Gets me everytime... PICK THE FUCKING BALL UP YOU FRIGID ****!

No one was worse then Boyd for any other club than what he was to ours.

Name me another CAPTAIN that failed their side harder than he did

It is easier to forgive those blokes, but I still don't think it's deliberate from Boyd. I've been saying it all year, I think he just doesn't have the physical capability he used to have, and I think psychologically something is playing on his mind that makes him second guess what he is doing. Decisions he used to make in a split second he now doesn't and he ends up like a rabbit in the headlights. Once that happens, it's an issue because everything wrong you do looks very bad.

I don't think it absolves him either. But like i said in my reply to you, i think if he was genuinley not giving his best, the team would have turned on him by now.
What's intentional is his reluctancy to put his body on the line. . Ever.

He's a pussy

Nope. Boyd was the worst captain of the bunch

I disagree, Widdop's decision to leave St. George added to the turmoil they found themselves in with the de Belin situation. Instead of doing everything to make it up to them in his final season, he was disinterested at fullback and nearly had them 0-3 before a shoulder injury put him out of his misery. When he came back, he did little to give the fans something to smile about.

Widdop achieved nothing as captain, at least Boyd helped lead the club into the finals.
