NEWS Badel: Seibold won't send Darius to QLD Cup

that’s false. I always have said he was unable to get the team up for games against lesser opponents and it cost him his job. But yeah that’s been done to death.
Bit worrying that's all you can come up with but ok.

Because Seibold didn't have a say in renewing his contract.

I believe with the way everything worked out, if Seibold was to drop Boyd it would have been akin to chopping his nose off to spite his face.

If he keeps picking him, he might not have a job.

We will just have to see.

I predict Seibold will give Darius one last opportunity on the left edge as a sign of respect. If Boyd doesn't set the world on fire there, I suspect he'll be on the outer. Depending on how the season plays out, he may get a run of games towards the end of the year to retire gracefully.

I have said on numerous occasions I get why people have a go at Boyd. I've been critical of his performances as well. Still doesn't change though that you can't hold players to different standards. There should be one standard for any player who pulls on a Broncos shirt. You have to accept mistakes, no player is perfect, but the standards have to be there for everyone with no excuses.

Yeah but I don’t see how that is relevant. Maybe for Isaako? Who else was consistently as bad as Boyd? Gillo?

Definitely not either of the guys who share blame in the Roberts try.

Everyone enjoy the popcorn and chill. Seibs has got this.

Nobody has said his excuse for his effort is the respect he gets from his team mates. That's clearly something you have made up.

Well yeah I kind of did make it up. In a way that was what a few people were suggesting and I just simplified it.

Was also unable to get his team to beat the storm. Was it like 1 win from like 9 attempts since he came back in 2015?

2 from 9.

The R25 2016 match arguably being in the top 3 of our best ever wins against them.

Some clubs would be ecstatic with that record in the same time frame. Probably most. I think this claim is flawed.

Oh comeon Huge, the likes of South Sydney and the Roosters do not have the same problem with Melbourne as we do lol

and we didn’t have much of a problem with the roosters or Souths. Our record against the storm is definitely fucked though.

Which part of 'most' is a problem to comprehend? I'd say Cronulla would have the best record against Melbourne but most clubs would have a very poor record against Melbourne.

Cronulla, another team we’ve had the wood over recently.

Surely that wont carry into a second season though?

Our record against the Storm since '15 is stuffed because they simply and efficiently identify and exploit our endemic weakness: shitty slow marker defence and porous edge defence. When our defence was great in '15, we stuck it to them.

It's not rocket science and Seibs has to pull his head in and get the defence right this year. No excuses. As for Boyd, for mine he deserves some respect as BP posted - his last chance, preferably as a defensive centre or he's out after half a dozen games if he fails to perform.

I'm curious as to why you are so certain this is just a myth when there is already a fair bit of evidence to suggest it may well have some weight?

Kahu & McGuire gone before the season started, Nikorima punted half a dozen games in as soon as we could source a buyer. This off season he's seen Dargan, Mago, Fai, Fensom and Tagatese all let go. He even managed to offload Shibasaki to Newcastle to squeeze in a Halback we desperately needed. In a single season he cut more players than any other Coach at Brisbane I can remember?

Basically the only player who deserved to probably be dropped that really wasn't was Boyd? Granted he played Macca until his injury, but Turpin as our only other dummy Half was hardly banging down the door for selection. We got lucky that he turned up in first grade and stepped up to a level above his Queensland Cup form. Macca then only earned a recall because our injury crisis left him basically no alternative.

It's already been made crystal clear that Macca is behind Turpin for Round 1 this year. So that leaves basically one player left who probably deserved to be dropped that hasn't been yet - our Captin, Darius Boyd.

So even in the face of all that cutting, all that dropping of players, the fact that Boyd as our Captain survived the year he had doesn't in any way suggest to you that there is even a possibility that the Coach was under some external pressure to retain Darius as long as possible?

I don't know for sure if it's true or not. What I do know is that Darius was the sole survivor or a horror season where he was probably our worst offender, and that certainly stands out to me as pretty unusual in light of everyone else that was dropped or released so ruthlessly.

I don't think Seibold should be afforded the same leeyway. As it pertains to 2019, the club underwent so many changes as it was that they couldn't afford to make such a drastic move. The changes they made were the ones they could get away with - McGuire, Kahu, Roberts, Nikorima and Su'A were desired by other clubs and easy enough to move on. Darius Boyd in his 14th season with a dodgy hamstring on a marquee deal wasn't going to attract the same kind of interest, especially since he was committed to being the Broncos captain.

That's been my point since I responded to lynx. Everyone treats it as some big Scooby Doo mystery that involves all sorts of crazy conspiracies and shady dealings when there's a far more logical explanation.

I’m sorry the only conspiracy is that seibs is being forced to pick Boyd.
