BBL|09 Discussion

The problem isn't lack of talent from the players, it's from a ridiculous gameplan.

Surely they can see by now that trying to blow teams off the park from the get go isn't the way. You need to build an innings.

We just dont seem to have any patience.

There’s no way you can pin that on Lynn.
What are the other batsmen doing that they can’t finish off a game after a lightning start?
Absolutely you can along with Boof. The bash at all cost attitude and no game awareness comes from the top. That was a must win game for us and was won, until you know, it wasn't.
Sure the other players hold their share of responsibility but we have a growing record now of Lynn not being capable of pulling back when the situation requires it.
He is gifting his wicket too many times.

Probably wasn’t going to make much of a difference, but the Cutting LBW wouldn’t have hit three sets of stumps. Sliding down leg massively.

One of the worst LBW decisions of the last decade.

And that’s not even considering he may have got an inside edge, but I never saw a replay to confirm.

doesn’t absolve the team because we shouldn’t have been in that situation to begin with, but **** they were dreadful. Itchy Nose should never umpire again tbh

In another game the other day, a batsman was hit on the full at the back ankle in front of middle stump deep in his crease and was given not out.

It was the other umpire who gave Cutting out.

Not fit to umpire under 16’s with that awful decision.

The umpiring standard just shows what a Mickey Mouse competition this is. The fact that they are awful and have never even looked like being replaced shows that they just don’t give a **** as long as the money keeps rolling in.

Not much danger of the money drying up on the horizon either. No ODI games to compete with now, and it's only other competition from other sports is the A-League which is well and truly on the ropes at the moment.

I wish we had Stoinis instead of Lynn.

They can both hit the ball a million miles, but Stoinis actually puts value on his wicket. He's happy to be 30 runs off 30 balls heading in to the last 10 overs, because he knows once he's got his eye in and the ball is a bit older he can reliably smack around the 2nd rate bowlers on the opposition.

I just don't think Lynn is capable or smart enough to bat this way anymore, he's almost in his own head, once he hears the first cheer for a 6 he gets a semi and has to keep going until he gets out.

Can we also mention that AB has been less than stellar so far?

Throw Laboosh in the side though and that settle things a little, something like:

1. Heazlett
2. Lynn
3. Laboosh
4. ABDv (wk)
5. Renshaw
6. Cutting
7. Burns
8. Pattinson
9. Laughlin
10. Swepson
11. Ajisen Ramen

Mujeeb has been average too, after seemingly killing it in Bangladesh.

CA just announced there's going to be a bushfire appeal game as a curtain raiser to the BBL final.

Warne & Ponting will be the captains. The other players confirmed to be involved are Gilchrist, Lee, Clarke, Watson, Langer, S.Waugh.

Sachin Tendulkar & Courtney Walsh will coach the two sides. 👀

Confirmation that Labuschagne will return for the Heat, and Smith / Hazlewood will return for the Sixers on Thursday.

Biggest game of the year, if we lose, we're going to have to rely on other teams to lose to make the finals.

I'm hoping Cutting & Burns both get dropped, I think this is our best chance of winning -

1. Lynn
2. Heazlett
3. Labuschagne
4. de Villiers
5. Renshaw
6. Bryant
7. Peirson
8. Pattinson
9. Lalor
10. Laughlin
11. Mujeeb

Bryant has been shit, but we need an option in the middle order to come out and swing away that isn't Ben Cutting.

Pretty confident we can get 2 overs each out of Marnus & Renshaw, and they'll be more economical than Cutting would be.

I hope Harper is ok .... but why did he try and jump him? Should’ve have just bowled Ellis over or angled his run to the left. He’s not the biggest guy but he’s got momentum on his side. Beats trying to hurdle him and half-concussing yourself.

I got laid out in similar fashion in lower grade cricket by a batsmen (still ran him out just before he collected me though)

It was an impressive fall though. Ellis was standing up as Harper smacked into his back, so he kind of launched a bit. He was stumbling around straight after, glad they took him off.

Can we start a GoFundMe to get Jono Wells batting at 5 for the Heat next season?

Maxwell’s bowling seems to have improved out of sight.

Labuschagne & Swepson in for Burns & Lalor.
