It had nothing to do with the Flegler scenario, hence why I didn't quote you / Viti. Secondly, I said driving towards our line, which would usually indicate to people of sound mind that I'm referencing scenarios in which they are indeed, close to our line.

I was pretty sure that driving towards our line can happen anywhere on the field. Yes, you should have been a little more precise instead of assuming that we all knew what you were thinking or picturing. You brought it up because of the discussion about Fleglers non involvement and because Viti wanted Flegler to get in there and involve himself and you wanted to support him in our little contretemps.

Awesome stuff, this is what's so frustrating about this season. I wish I could be there with all the die-hard to give them a boost or a kick up the ass. Yet we're being kept at arms length while we've got to watch this play out and listen to all these chuckle heads tell us how great it is.

That would cause all shit.

His been in the media for so long from moving to rabbitohs and everyone seems to try and focus on all the positive things he does lately. Hes more talked up lately for all the little things he does. How his SUCH a good fullback now.

Games getting more and more corrupt.

Don't mean to hijack this thread (move to apt thread if need be) but it really pissed me off how Fox and the media reacted to Latrell in the sheds. *Incoming rant*.

The headlines and reporter questions about why he was "emotional" just rubbed me the wrong way. He was crying, so what? Is is appropriate to speculate that it had anything to do with the game and then go around the panel discussing what it could have been?

They then called G Burgess and instead of actually discussing the game or anything to do with George, hijacked the conversation to try get his insight into why Latrell was "emotional". Do we really need to know why he was upset? Even if Burgess knew, should we expect him to share?

Saturday the headlines to change to actually state he was crying, as if we couldn't tell from the footage or as they had been given the OK to use those words. I actually thought Bennett handled it perfectly and had no reason to explain it. In fact, I would have 100% been okay if someone in the sheds had covered that camera. Wayne protecting his player is exactly what a coach should do.

The AFL is currently running a YouTube series called "The Last Time I Cried" and it's based upon the idea that men can be emotional and the stigma around men crying needs to be addressed - it is not a sign of weakness. I don't watch AFL but I highly recommend checking it out. Anyway, the NRL could have used the opportunity to demonstrate their support of men's mental health and that it was not an issue that he was crying. Instead they tried to portray him as a victim and is if somebody had done something wrong.

As a game I just feel we could have done so much better.

It's a classic example of the game and its relationship with the media. The game lets the media ride roughshod because it needs the clicks, eyeballs and ears on its product, so it can bargain with the media which sells its advertisers. It's why scum like Hooper, Buzz, Badel, Riccio and co are allowed to flourish because without their bullshit articles every day, News Corp doesn't get the clicks or ratings on Fox, and the game value is lowered.

Latrell is just another pawn in the game, they can write one article and one talk segment about him playing well, but they can write 3 or 4 and 3 talk segments about him crying. The game by way of how much it needs the media $$$ lets itself, clubs and players be used and abused.

We're no stranger to this. The amount of negative press and seemingly collusive efforts to kick us while we're down is done mostly because everyone loves to see us fail, so anything that can exacerbate our situation the media will jump on and pump out article after article after article.

Of course the irony of it all is we're still owned by the very company that runs all these stories
 
anyone else watch the manly raiders match? The kind of defence and aggression manly put in that match just puts us to absolute shame. Every player had each other's backs and showed great pride in their jersey. That's the kind of footy we need to play and won't until broncos show pride in their own jerseys.

The thing that annoyed me the most is that brandy was piling on.
imagine if the situation was him in the change rooms after his brother just died drink driving!! Of all people to have sympathy, it should be Alexander. His career derailed for a couple of years after Ben passed.
