Ridiculous. It's not like he doesn't have to name the side publicly in another 6 hours or so from now.
 
Why does everyone think Fifita is going to make such a big difference. He will probably make a couple of breaks but we are so badly coached and clueless it will make no difference.

Now compare errors, handling errors, penalties conceded and ineffective tackles.
But that doesn't suit the narrative now does it, so im sure you wont.

Fifita has shown previously he's capable of winning games out of nowhere when we're playing like complete busteds. He may not fix everything but he's without doubt the best hope we have.

What narrative? You're the one who said those players run for more metres than Boyd, I simply showed you that they don't. If you'd like to dig up those stats and post them you're more than welcome. (It's a lot more effort to get accurate error/penalty/ineffective tackle numbers than avg running metres)

No i just said others are running less than him, the other players i mentioned were others who are performing as poorly, if not more-so than Boyd, in other areas.
Boyd is in poor form, like i said, but he is far from the worst on the team if you look at all the stats.
My point is, he is a scapegoat, dropping Boyd wont magically win us games, same as dropping any other player.
If you drop Boyd for his form on the field, then there is half a dozen others you gotta drop as well.

As for the other stats, they are easy to find on NRL.com

Players with more penalties than Boyd - Haas, Milford, Lodge, Carrigan.
Players with more errors than Boyd - Coates, Oates, Isaako, Farnworth.
Players with more handling errors than Boyd - Coates, Isaako, Farnworth
Players with more ineffective tackles than Boyd - Croft, Flegler, Luke, Haas,

There's more but i really couldn't be arsed fishing them all up.

Brent Read article this morning confirming a few things -

Lodge won't return, Staggs only has to get through training this week to play on the weekend, Farnworth will move to the left wing, Boyd, Milford, Croft safe. Isaako and Oates fighting for the last bench spot.

Based on that, I'd expect this side named:

1. Niu
2. Farnworth
3. Staggs
4. Boyd
5. Coates
6. Milford
7. Croft
8. Flegler
9. Luke
10. Haas
11. Glenn (c)
12. Pangai Jr
13. Carrigan

14. Dearden
15. Isaako/Oates
16. Te'o
17. Kennedy

But I just showed you that they aren't lol, Boyd is averaging the fewest metres per game in the starting side.

Disagree, most of the stats emulate just how poorly he's playing. I went through and did a rough tally of penalties conceded and errors made, he's right in line with guys like Milford and Oates in terms of overall negative impact in those areas. And he's worse than the likes of Isaako, Farnworth, Coates, etc.

Regardless, I never said the reason he's playing poorly is his discipline with the footy, that's the absolute least of his issues. His issue is that doesn't offer ANYTHING with the football. Say what you want about the form of Milford, Isaako, Oates, etc. At least on a good day they can offer SOMETHING that contributes to winning football.

Boyd has been under performing far longer than any of them, and under performing more consistently than any of them. If you want to be 'fair', he's the first person that should be dropped out of the list of people not playing up to their pay cheque.

As I said, I did a rough tally myself and the only two I could find who contributed more errors and penalties combined were Milford & Oates.

Regardless, see my last post to understand why handling errors and ineffective tackles aren't the reason Boyd deserves to be dropped.

I get what you are saying, but Milford is on 200k more and the only stat he has better than Boyd is 7 meters more running average.
He is less effective in defense, and just as piss poor in attack.
My point is, There are at least 6 players in the team who are playing as bad, if not worse than Boyd.
And they have been playing that way since the resumption of the season, as these are only the 2020 stats.

You know what the saddest part of this conversation is.
We are basically juggling who is worse between Boyd and Milford, our two highest paid and most experienced players :(
 
it's awfully difficult to hope for a win this weekend when very little changes are being made.

Money is so irrelevant, let's be honest. I'm sick of people using money as like an extra net-negative against someone's form. It's not Milford and Boyd's fault the club paid them what they did, let's just focus on what they're actually objectively offering to the side every week and not how much money is on their fortnightly cheque.

Milford's stats aren't good. He's not playing with confidence, he's not demanding the footy enough from the hooker, he's not supporting broken play enough, he's not trailing offloads enough, he's not defending well... *pause*... but he's still a better player than Boyd that unequivocally offers more every single week, even when he decides to be a spectator. Milford has more attacking prowess in his fat little finger than Boyd (in 2020) has in his entire body. There's no comparison. If we want to start winning football games we need Milford in the team and playing somewhere close to his potential. You simply can't say the same for Boyd at the moment. What does a blinder for Darius in 2020 look like? 95 running metres and 25 tackles with no errors? We could literally find a reserve grader from Mt Isa who could offer at least 80% of what Darius does at the moment.
 
A win this week will just mask the deeper issues.
A loss would see the coach gone and/or mass player changes.
Yes we all thought that post the titans loss, but I think milford and Boyd are one loss away from a legitimate axe.
A win will probably see those players safe for the rest of 2020.
