It's happening: News LTD calls for Seibold sacking

I wonder if these anonymous players have taken up their concerns with the coach before airing them to the media?

If coach is too soft, tell him to fire up and/or take on that role yourself - challenge your peers.

If coach is confusing you and you're unsure of your role, clarify it with him.

***** sake, this just smacks of wanting everyone else to do everything and not taking any responsibility, yourself. Shit attitude if true, I'd expect better from professionals in any field.

Great post. If what is being reported is true, and I suspect it is, this says so much about the players role in our decline. They sound like a bunch of spoilt brats

They're judt dumb footballers. There is a guy employed to sort those attitudes out.

You reckon Oates would be playing if he said others should be dropped and his coach was Bellamy? He'd be lucky to play againthis year.

McCullough has shown when you put him in a spine that is creative and know what they are doing, he is exactly what you need - serviceable and excellent defensively. Let’s remember he played his best at the club when we had Lockyer & Wallace in the halves.

You all know here I’m a big fan of his, but obviously he doesn’t have that next level in his game to be the ‘main man’ of the spine, so when you have inconsistent and constantly changing halves although he is great defensively doesn’t give you what you need in attack.

Newcastle is a good situation for him. His dummy and drive is back because the defence is looking at the other weapons of the spine and he is back playing with confidence.

There was clearly an agenda against Macca when he was here. It even got to the stage where members were critising his denfence FFS! However, he has shown when you put him in the right mix of the spine he fills a need.
I think people were rightly critical of one of our most experienced players who was not offering us anything. He can go to the Knights and look good due to having Pearce calling the shots and a full of confidence Ponga running around. We know when our spine was at its best 2015 he looked good. The focus zeroed in on him due to our spine being ineffectual and him being a senior member of it.

Roberts was quoted in the takedown, describing him as "miserable":

“I can’t handle the way the coach speaks to me. He doesn’t respect me. He talks down to me. I don’t trust him.”
I will stick up for seibold here, he didn’t tolerate Roberts shit like Bennett does because he is a good player. Bennett has gone extremely soft in the past 5 years with the players and what they get away with

I'm going to throw something out there, which I think has been affecting this group.

I am quite inclined to believe the rumours about players not understanding what is required of them, and at this moment I am more and more suspicious that Seibs is making the same mistake WB did with Milf, but on a larger scale... trying to teach a game plan and tactics to our players which is beyond their grasp.
Without trying to be facetious, RL players are more often than not pretty lacking in the IQ department. I actually think we have a lot of talent, but I also believe it is inversely proportional to their intelligence. Oates, Lodge, TPJ and Milford are prime examples of this IMO.

We also lack a capable leader who is the extension of the coach on the field, capable of settling the players down, or bark instructions to those who dearly need them. Carrigan seems like a smart enough guy, but he is just a kid and is drowning in the chaos that is our ruck. Glenn is a likeable guy, but also not the brightest bulb.
The 4 people in the spine who should be guiding the guys around don't seem capable of organising anything, and their collective sum wouldn't reach the game intelligence of a Locky, Thurston or Cronk, especially after Macca's departure.
Alfie, who would be another person who could deliver the message, probably doesn't understand it either... and we're left with this rabble.

This would explain to me why we are so sorely lacking in all aspects of the game, including the basics taught at U12 level, which shouldn't be something the coach needs to teach.
They are just trying too hard to achieve what the coach asks and their brain is crashing, causing bad discipline, judgement errors and eventually elementary mistakes under fatigue caused by the lack of possession and continuous defending...

From what I hear, Seibs is actually a pretty smart guy with really good ideas, but they're wasted and probably counter-productive at the moment.
Don't get me wrong, this is not excusing the coach, who needs to adapt to the roster he has until he can get the cattle he needs for his ideas to flourish.

I also think it is important to note that at Newcastle, most of the time, Macca is passing to forwards who are running hard, at the ad. line. Too often here, he shovelled the ball back to slow moving forwards, as in fact we are still doing now, as we well know. By the time our forwards get the ball they are swamped by a fast moving defence so we get no momentum, few post contact metres.

At the Roosters, Robinson surrounds himself with staff who focus on individual players, their strengths and weakness and the coaching style adapts accordingly to get the best out of each individual player, based on their strengths and weaknesses. For example, they employ a clinical psychologist to determine what approach is needed to get the best out of them.

It sure does work

Yeah but let’s be real, we live in a world of leaks whether it’s sport, business, celebs or politics, it’s just the way it is. If he did suggest going to the Titans for one year and then back to Brisbane that is disrespectful and people are entitled to feel that way if they like.

You are not wrong. If you think about it, most of these kids have been identified as young kids, put on scholarships, signed by the club, given their gear etc. So is it surprising many of them are spoilt?

Yeah I think it's also part of the problem. Especially with quiet guys like Milf who I can't imagine ask too many questions even though they're critical to the team. I can picture Seibs being someone who can get caught up in the details at times, and I really think we need to get back to the very basics for now - running hard and putting your body on the line in both attack and defence. Depending on the mental state of the players and their interpersonal relationships at the moment (thinking Haas v Glenn etc) it may also be worth forgoing a training session and instead having a BBQ or something. Rebuild the relationships, do some team bonding, have a bit of non-footy-related fun...get some team spirit back. I know it sounds fuzzy but boy it looks like we need it atm.

100% agree... I don't think training on the paddock is going to fix the current rot. It's a psychological problem much more than anything else which needs addressing.
