NEWS Congratulations: we're NOT wooden spooners again

It doesn't help when we are having to play the top 4-5 sides in the comp twice, I don't have the data but there will be a few teams who don't have to do that

For those of you trying to look on the bright side when it comes to our draw, we've already lost to the Cows, the Dragons and Canberra in the past month. Why do we have any reason to think the easier draw at the back end of the season is going to amount to anything?
Yep, and we lost to the titans and Manly. Sure, Manly changed once they got Trbo back, but how do you blame the draw for the titans pumping us in round 2?

Easiest Cowboys, Knights and Manly

Hardest Broncos, Dogs, Tigers

They've generally got the top 5 playing each other twice (Storm, Panthers, Eels, Rabbits, Roosters)... as they should to try and get ratings. However, we (the spooners) are the only other team required to play the top 5 twice.

Cowboys only play the roosters twice out of the top 5, and sea eagles twice if expanded to the top 6. Knights only play the roosters twice from the top 6.

People still tuning in to see this disaster unfold. Gotta throw the viewers a bone and put at least one decent team on a Friday night.

**** I love a good spreadsheet 🍆

I’m not worried. Staggs will come back and be our Tommy Trbo and we’ll win the last 9 in a row.

At this point I would be putting him on ice for the rest of the season. Why risk bringing him back in and re-aggravating the injury for a season that is long gone?

good time to see if he can handle 5/8 ... without wasting time at the start of the 2022 season
Does anyone know if Staggs currently trains at 5/8th at all? If he wasn’t to return to playing this season I hope he’s training for 5/8th already.

Would love to do a study of how teams perform against us as opposed to against other teams. I mean in terms of conpletion rates, missed tackles unforced areas and that kinda shit.

I'm not saying we aren't a rubbish disgrace excuse of a side. But does it seem teams play like world beaters against us then the following week look like caloundra under 7s?

Yes I'm looking at you dragons. Honestly if there was a stat about 50/50 calls, bounce of the ball, bullshit fluke tries and teams having a blinder against us it was be so skewed against us

I think teams take some extra pride in smashing the broncos and in the grind of the season it’s a little extra motivation but I mostly think that they just look great because we make it very easy for them.

I’ve been a Benji Marshall doppelgänger in social touch comps against the shit teams, when most weeks I looked more like Milf’s last game.

If @broncsgoat asks for your address, do not give it to him.

I used to think we were the victim of teams lifting against us and players having one of their best games of the season because they want to beat the Broncos and whilst there is probably a small factor of that i think the real reason is that we are just so damn easy to play against.

Watching our games we hardly put any pressure on the opposition, we don't intimidate with defence and we don't pose enough questions in attack. We have no 'watch out' players other than maybe Haas and TPJ but we really miss a backline go to strike with Staggs out. Our backline against Canberra was laughably bad on paper and replicated that on the field.

Teams have higher completion rates and less missed tackles against us more due to our inability rather than them lifting, imo.

Look at every other club. They have 2 players that can be captain. Storm/Roosters have 3/4 players that could be captain.

When we kicked ass in 2015 we had multiple players that could be captains Parker/Hodges.

2022 we are looking at Reynolds and only Reynolds as captain material. We need to do better.

Yeah Reynolds isn’t exactly one of the games great leaders either. The team needs a leadership group and to sign some talkers.

Reynolds, Capewell, Hodgson would be my big targets based on this. I’d be preparing to have a million dollar contract to offer available in a year or 2 incase RTS decides rugby isn’t his thing
