FOOTBALL English Premier League 23/24 Discussion

Wild scenes in that pen shootout today. Absolutely brutal on Alvarez.

I would like to see the angle that VAR had that showed the double touch because from the replays I've seen, I can't see a double touch.

If there is one, it's the absolute slightest of touches and the trajectory of the ball never changes. From the point of the ball he hits and the follow through, that ball was always going left.

Technically, if there was a double touch it's no goal but surely there's room for discretion.

Yeah, I understand it from a rule standpoint, double touch is a foul penalty. But the replays aired to viewers were not clear at all, and I've not been able to find a clip from any of the broadcasters yet that showed it. So as you say, would just be good to see what they saw.

Also, Vini Jr is becoming a real frustrating player to watch. Dunno about gloating to fans when you've been the worst player on the pitch by a mile. Can find a headline.

The idea behind the 3 spikes is the trident in the logo, so I get it. Will just be how that translates across

Looking at it for the first time today, i can now see why its getting ridiculed in England. I agree with a lot of the United fans going on about it, it does look like a circus tent.

The weird thing i find is they are sacking people all over the place, stripping money from charities close to the club and Sir Jim said they could have gone bust by Christmas, so where will the find the 2 billion pounds to build the stadium?

Oh it absolutely looks like a circus tent, which is pretty fitting right now.

Regarding funding, who knows... It's honestly just going to put the club into even more debt issues either way, unless the club is turned around completely before it even starts which is extremely doubtful. Andy Burnham has already said there will be no public funding.

The club/Glazers, does own a good chunk of land in the area specified for the regeneration project apparently, so I would assume that will be sold, but again, it remains to be seen if that money just goes to Glazers of if its put towards the stadium bill.
