The saliva test is a roadside test, but my understanding from the media reporting is Mam was conveyed to hospital straight after the crash. It is likely a blood sample was taken at that time, which will broad spectrum show what was in his system and in what quantities.

It tests for Methylamphetamine which is present in MDMA I understand, which is why it is detected.

A forensic medical officer can prove it one way or the other.
