Chambers was outstanding. And agree with Scott, Hodges and Cronk being top of the tree as well.
Parker was his typical consistent best, thought he took some really timely runs.
He's such a nice bloke Mitch, I just hope he can find stability at a club.
Without being too critical, sometimes he almost plays too nice. Needs that real ruthless streak on the field.
It's just a shame it hasn't worked out for whatever reason at Brisbane though. I thought he'd really add a...
Cheers. I assumed Wynnum but for some reason have never seen his name on a team sheet.
Heard he hadn't been playing huge minutes though, which is a bit of a worry if we're expecting 40+ tackles.
Probably a massive oversight on my part.. but who has Stagg been playing for in the Intrust Super Cup? I haven't seen him anywhere. Has he been playing ISC?
Agree with those who rate Vossy as the best caller.
Hadley is painful, Gilbert seems out of his depth.
I reckon Matt Thompson (who calls the Intrust Super Cup) does a pretty good job. Knows the game but comes up with a bit Vossy-type random stuff. Think he's done a few NRL games here and...
Quite keen to see what Boyd will bring to the team.
Reckon his presence will help out the halves (in particular Milford) a lot. He knows how to run a well-timed movement, which should get the backline going more smoothly.
Wait and see though and obviously not until he's right to go. Although...
Yeah, the hype around the Walker bros continues to grow. Haven't seen enough in recent seasons to really comment.
But when comparing styles, it's all about balance. No doubt some of the Jets' skills, ball movement drills/plays would be very useful at NRL level but it'd be a time and place...
Stats don't tell the full tale.. but here are Mitch Garbutt's numbers from the weekend.
21 runs for 212m, 4 offloads, 1 line break, 23 tackles, 1 missed tackle and a try.
The competition just gets stronger and stronger each season. Even more impressive considering it's expanded with two teams in two years as well. And not just token moves either, PNG were outstanding and Townsville have an exceptionally strong squad for a club in their first year.
Some of these...
Dodds and Garbutt are completely different players.
From what I've seen of Dodds, he's basically a defensive specialist. Pretty solid but doesn't offer much in attack. Garbutt is far more dynamic. Can offload and has a bit of footwork. When he was at Melbourne, it was felt his defence wasn't a...
Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans to Brisbane Broncos
For what it's worth, as I posted two months ago. I'm convinced he's coming. It's just a matter of when.
Yeah saw him in the QCup last weekend. He's a long, long way away.
Going to call a spade a spade.. he was a liability in defence at centre. Was lining up on Junior Sa'u and got beaten fairly regularly. Obviously wish him all the best but there's a lot of improvement to go.
