Haha. I reckon he definitely deserves a crack in an NRL system.
Had a stellar season last year. Went down to do a few weeks preseason at the Storm and unfortunately dislocated his shoulder. So, still on the comeback trail from injury. Has only had about 4/5 games back. Not as fit and sturdy as...
The two halves have a bit of talent. Watched Carroll in a few matches in the U16s comp. I know they're all just kids but he seems to be one of those players with time when he has the ball in his hands. Big boot too and can throw a long pass.
Re: Leaked Queensland Side For Game 1
Stating the obvious a bit with both statements.. but QLD will go with the tried and true for Game I. Especially considering it's down in Sydney, they're not keen on blooding rookies on enemy territory unless they really have to.
In regards to the wing...

Cat amongst the pigeons a bit. Also, how much stronger would the team be if Copley and Yow Yeh were fully fit.
Fair point. Old cliche though.. but doesn't the pack have to be rolling forward for the halves (apart from maybe a select few ultra talented folk) to achieve anything?
I think people are slightly too harsh on Norman. I mean, I know we fell away pretty badly towards the end of 2012, but up until Round 22 we were never outside the top five. And that was with Wallace and Norman in the halves.
Now there are some aspects of his game that need to improve though...
Heard a few things about specific players not really liking him.
But, obviously, it wouldn't be enough to get him sacked at this point. Although, if the club racks up a few losses in row, strange things can happen.

Re: If you could sign anyone to the club who doesn't play in the halves, who would it
I reckon the absense of a quality all-round fullback at the Broncos is equally as troubling as the uncertainty in the halves.
With that in mind.. either Slater or Inglis for sure.
Phil Hughes is in really good form at the moment as well. Most runs in the Sheffield Shield this season.
Can't believe they went for Quiney over either Hughes or Khawaja. Ridiculous selection.
On a tangent.. but I think I enjoy watching Queensland Cup more than NRL these days. Some of the best/most dramatic games of rugby league that I saw this year were in the QCup.
And going on from what you said, there's less emphasis on wrestle which leads to more open footy. There's greater...
So, no more speculation about Anthony Milford. Has re-signed with Canberra until 2014.
Newcastle have confirmed Mitchell Frei's signing as well. Disappointing, reckon he'll turn out to be a better player than the blokes who have been filling the number 17 jersey for Brisbane (Lui, Dodds etc).
Would have made his NRL debut this year if not for a miraculous last-minute recovery from Ryan Hoffman. Hoping he gets a crack next season.
They've got some really talented depth in their 2013 squad. In fact, despite a few losses, I reckon they'll have a better roster next year than they did...
Don't mind it at all. Reliable player.
And if he plays regular first grade hopefully Griffin will just throw him in the middle which will free up Gillett and Thaiday to play a little wider. Gillett in particular - need to get him out on the fringes! Massive waste of his talent this season.
