I don't know why everyone is so worried about the Storm. The curse is broken since finals last year. We've flipped to the other steady state, the one where we make them our pets for the next 15 years. We've got this.
Sooooo the lack of forward depth we were worried about all last year & all off-season has come to pass. In Round 4. Honestly this is a pretty big miss in recruitment if Hunt/Baker don't find their feet pretty fucking quickly. I think they can.
Broncos by 13.
Did you even read where I quoted the NRL's definitions of careless & reckless tackles and shoulder charges? Yes it was accidental, but it was reckless and should have been charged as such. Or a shoulder charge, take your pick. The 'late' factor is the weaker argument, plenty of accidental...
Watching it live, I thought it was just an unfortunate head clash. But thinking about it more, the way May came up so aggressively needs to be taken into account. That contact did not need to be made, he was trying to put a hit on - after Walsh had passed the ball - and it went wrong. Not...
No.
Walsh had zero duty of care in that collision, he was in possession and had passed the ball. May had the duty of care, and a "special duty to avoid forceful and dangerous contact" in that tackle, by the NRL's own definitons. See my previous post in this thread.
Sorry mate, this take is cooked.
It meets the definitions of a reckless high tackle, a shoulder charge AND late contact with a passer under the NRL's definitions:
I've underlined the important parts here - May was not attempting to make a genuine attempt at a wrapping or grabbing tackle, so...
Sailor showed in the trials what we can expect from him. Some flashy gamebreaking stuff combined with some very poor defensive misses. Have people forgotten those already?
Look I think it's probably the best option, and he'll certainly help spark our attack again but there will be a cost in...
We do, but when our attack is essentially all based off either Reyno or Walsh, well, that makes it hard.
We also miss Haas' minutes in a huge way.
I agree though, we still have a whole lot of quality and quite a bit of strike.
Welp, if we're going to make the GF again this year, we're going to do it the hard way. 3 key players on the sidelines for an extended period isn't the best early season luck.
Kevvie said in his interview with Joel Caine and Fletch that we play "high-risk"...he corrected himself immediately and changed that to "high-skill", but the general idea is that we play high-skill footy so as a result there will necessarily be errors as not everything comes off all of the time...
Oh look, almost anything is possible with enough money thrown at it. There's also the golden triangle of time - cost - quality to be considered. We're starting to get into the realm of both shit and extremely expensive outcomes IMO, neither of which we should tolerate as taxpayers experiencing...
What's also been missed is all the OTHER upgrades to sporting facilities across the entire southeast corner. There's a list of 15-20 IIRC, some of which are small but others are quite substantial in their own right. Plus the accommodation facilities for the athletes at Hamilton which is no...
