I see a bit of Wendell in Dom Young. Big, strong, fast, high workrate, lethal and a good finisher. Only 20 yo as well. Newcastle need to hold onto him.
Shop them around and end up paying half their salary for the remainder of their contracts while they carve it up for another team. The Broncos will rid themselves of TPJ and Lodge's contracts at the end of this season (I think). It would be ridiculous to put themselves in that situation again...
He did a decent job for them last year when the Roosters were having their dummy half injury crisis. I'm not aware if he has played any first grade this year. I don't really have an opinion as I haven't seen enough of him. He might be a handy workhorse, not sure of his attacking ability though...
I have a rumour but it's not the most reliable source so I'll leave it up to you whether you want to add it or not. The Broncos are looking to sign Ben Marschke on a possible one year deal for 2023.
I'll be watching the Dolphins closely as well. I'll probably attend a few of their games in Syd/Newc etc. I'm a big fan of WB so my interest is obvious. I'm looking forward to the Round 1 blockbuster. Bris vs Dolphins at Suncorp.
Well, he obviously doesn't or he wouldn't be here. They haven't been winning for four years. He's just a disenchanted fan where the disappointment is still fresh after what looked to be a promising season. We've all been there. He'll come around.
That's debatable but I'm not going to argue the merits of a couple plodders. Paix will never hold down a regular first grade gig. If he does, it'll be with a bottom feeding club.
But you just named two players that also "suck". Inserting a fringe first grader (aka plodder) with another doesn't solve anything. Billy probably has been our best player this past month (certainly was last night).
But the dummy half position continues to be a big problem along with a...
Plenty of opportunities in their red zone but totally lacked execution on most occasions. StG were awful but good enough to win tonight. Ben Hunt certainly was the difference.
A bit unlucky to miss the playoffs with a record better than .500. But their average losing margin of 22 pts has cost them a berth in September. Their form during the past 5-6 weeks is a real concern. Plenty to ponder for Kevie & Co. during the summer.
Have the wind advantage in the second half although it's mainly blowing across the field. Still anyone's game but it has to be said that both these sides look deplorable.
It is but on paper, it doesn't look a bad side overall. But many are out of form/checked out for the season. I'm expecting a competitive match which could go either way.
This would be the ultimate of fairy tales though. In 2014, the Broncos had to rely on three results going their way after losing to Melbourne on the Friday night. Incredibly, all three teams lost and the Broncos fell ass backwards into 8th. An even bigger miracle will need to occur this weekend...
