I reckon that interview is a bit fake, but no more fake than all Walters' ones about why he wasn't picked. In both cases, what does anyone really expect them to say? I think he gave the media enough of an answer to satisfy them, and then move on. If he came out and bagged his non-selection...
Couldn't agree more. I also think Walters has done well to convince everyone this is a Hunt vs DCE debate, by saying DCE was only considered for a starting role, but then go on to talking about Hunt offering more off the bench. I actually agree that Hunt might offer more off the bench than DCE...
I don't mind that a player from the losing team gets MOTM, assuming they are actually the best player on the field. Sometimes I think players from the losing team get automatically disregarded because they lost, which i think is unfair.
But in this case the guy wasn't even the best on the...
I think anyone from Melbourne should be referred to as the Best Of All Time, not the Greatest Of All Time. That way they can be reffered to as the BOAT.
I'm the other way around. I nearly always watch the early friday game, but rarely watched monday night games. I like the back-to-back live games on friday nights, although 5pm is bordering on too early during DLS.
Yeah, I did think about that and it could be a worry at the higher level of origin, but is club form is good enough to warrant selection. Age shoulnd't be a completely limiting factor.
Look, Boyd vs Slater at FB has probably been one of the biggest selection calls in the last decade. It's...
Wasn't he injured in 2015 too? Didn't he play in origin 2 after being told it could end his season?
No, I don't think the loyalty argument is odd. He's been a great player for QLD over the years. He's in good, some would say great, form. Other players have been selected on loyalty over the past...
Only because he'd been injured for so long imo. Given some of the other nuffies in the QLD team that have been riding on past glory over the past couple of years, I would have thought Slater deserved a bit of it as well.
I just think the QLD team is stronger with them both in it. I don't see...
Don't get me wrong. I don't think Slater being in the team automatically means QLD wins. I don't think it changes the result in game 1 at all. The QLD backline didn't lose that game. I do however think Slater offers more at FB than Boyd does.
But in saying that, I do find it very un-QLD like...
True, but I also don't think he did anything spectacular to keep it either.
I feel a bit sorry for Boyd though. Only a great game and a QLD win was going to put the Slater-Boyd argument to bed. With a QLD loss, it seemed inevtiable that Slater would be back (assuming he is).
