Biggest concern was the edge defense still. Some soft tries. We still looked like we could have won that game despite Canberra playing their best game in forever.
Congrats Bellamy on retiring with the 2025 premiership.
That was about as good as the Raiders could possibly play.
That was about as bad as Reece Walsh could possibly play.
Canberra were absolutely willing to lie in the ruck when it suited them.
Canberra have played almost perfect high intensity football like it was their grand final, and this is the best they can do against a Broncos team that keeps messing up.
Makes business sense not to have every game on FTA for Broncos. Extract that bit of extra Kayo money, but just enough to keep the city hot for it.
This is a game where players might think they've won it without trying to win it (ala every Tigers game between 2018-2022)
Shiba and Gojetski are just examples of why I think Madge is 100% the correct coach.
Good coaches turn average players good, good players great and great players elite.
Add in Haas and Carigan turning elite.
Red zone atttack looked totally different. Even 2023 Kevball had us flatfooted in the redzone, until the Reece Walsh sweep play.
Defensively, the tackling techniques looked the best it ever has. Like theres a real intent to tackle and slow the play ball down like the dominant teams do...
I'm genionely loving going into a game and be like 'oh if we lose it's cause we have no Staggs'
Feeling like we're building a next man up system like Storm and Panthers.
Straight out of the 2019 Broncos recruitment strategy.
Player options everywhere!!
Feel for the Newcastle fans, that would make me livid.
You either have a longer contract at a reduce price, or a shorter term contract at an increased price. NOT BOTH.
