Aston Agar is being kept on - the powers that be have massive wraps on him. As they do Fawad in Victoria - he's viewed as a genuine short term solution.
I understand what a sport scientist is; I'm in the industry. I have never heard the term medical sport scientist before. Is he meaning a sports physician? If so, they are incredibly qualified - 3-4 year undergrad, 4 year MBBS, 4 years specialty training. We would be lucky to have such...
Ricardi is an interesting one; judges didn't have a lot between him and DCE. I'd certainly be inviting him to pre-season.
I'd be surprised if Kemp plays first grade.
I'm not going to find them, but I would suggest watching Invers press conferences. He's quite articulate and very good at justifying everything. The above was covered in the presser he gave when they announced the latest squad.
Uzzie and Steve Smith were told they would get one game each. Invers communicated this quite clearly, both players knew and the public were informed afterwards. Additionally, playing Cutting is consistent with what they did with say Forrest last year - as a stepping stone to the Test team...
Invers is good. You might not agree with all of his decisions but he certainly justifies them well. Not only is dropping Cutting and Uzzie completely consistent with what they have done in the past, Invererity communicated quite early on in the piece exactly what would happen.
Whether or not you are a fan of rotation, our increased fast bowling depth courtesy of Johnson seizing an opportunity and Bird gaining some exposure is surely a big positive.
Johnson will go much better under the current set up - the two Micks and Invers will give him all the cuddling he...
Perhaps the science is updated and they just don't want to publish yet. Watson had a massive spike last test yet played here. Breakdown ensued. Given they left out Starc should consistency dictate they ban Watto from bowling?
Notwithstanding that I don't rate Starc as a long form bowler - I thought the selectors got it wrong. If they're genuine about following the science behind rotation they either rest him from the last 2 tests, or play him here and leave him out of Sydney.
The research shows the correlation...
Most line up to deliver deserved brickbats for a stinking selection or decision. Similarly, they deserve bouquets when something comes off. Hindsight is the only way to assess their decisions - they made a good one here.
Where are all those critics of rotation - would a weary Starc have been as effective as Johnson or Bird?
It is only Sri Lanka, but the selectors deserve a pat on the back. They have been vindicated.
