Shaping up as a pretty open tournament this year I reckon, on both sides.

On the men's, obviously Fed and Rafa are the two but I am expecting good showings from Soderling, Roddick and Murray.

On the women's side, hopefully Aussie Sam can go a fair way through.

What's the tip???

My Tip is Nadal but I would really love to see Roddick get the win. Hewitt is in fine form coming into the open but that will no doubt end in failure.

Don't forget Djokovic - I expect a good showing from him too

Women's? I think one of the Belgian girls or Williams - though I hope Sam does really well

Djokovic undoubtedly has the talent, but I have to wonder about his temperament. Whenever he gets a slight injury or something, he seems to fall apart. Always seems to struggle with the heat in Melbourne as well.

Not sure if he has the bottle to win.

I'll be supporting Fed! 8-)

Two semi-tennis-related questions for the masses, both of which have been topics of conversation amongst friends:

1. Has Ana Ivanovic gotten hotter?
2. Does anyone find Djokovic attractive?

My tips are Clijsters for the women and Fed for the men.

I am a Federer fan but anyone who isn't tipping Rafa has rocks in their heads, he is a certainty unless he breaks down injured.

I am tipping Fed - the Aussie is his best Slam IMO. Though I won't be disappointed if Rafa takes it out.

And Schmix - yep I think Djokovic is hot!!! And HILARIOUS - a very attractive quality.

Djokovic is ok. It's all about Fernando Gonzalez and Andy Roddick. 8-)

What about Gonzalez?

I'm hoping he's not a long-lost cousin on my grandma's side. [icon_ee

Nah the Gonz doesn't do a lot for me - you can have him :D

Djokovic has a great sense of humour...when he's winning. He's a deadset sook and a douche when he's being beaten. Usually quits "injured" before he can actually lose.

Cracking match between Kuznetsova and Schiavone just then.

I reckon the clash tonight between Djokovic and Thomas Berdych will be the match of the tournament so far. Berdych is in super form, was down in Melbourne last week and watched him destroy Gasquet and then in the next round he beat Verdasco in straight sets. And Djokovic is always exceptional. Should be good!

Tell ya what, tickets are a tad pricey!

My mum and sis are going to Melbourne on Thursday and decided they wanted to go watch Federer's match on Thursday night, so I logged onto Ticketek and bought their tickets.

$390 for one adult and one concession. Cripes.

They get more expensive in the second week cause it's all the finals matches.

I remember when I went down to the Aussie Open a few years ago and I got to claim the whole thing on tax due to working as a sports Events Manager - made the case it was relevant to my job. icon_thumbs_u

Thought the women's final was a great match and both ladies are class acts on and off the court. But sooooooo happy Aussie Kim finally got to win her (adopted) home event icon_thumbs_u

Hoping the mens final tonight is a cracking affair - tough one to pick. But on what I've seen this past couple of weeks I think Murray might get up for the win.
