Thought I'd save the Movements thread.

I'm saying they can do it and make the 8 without Locky, Your saying they Will be lucky to make the 8 and pretty much can't do it without Locky...

I would say your the one placing to much pressure on them. You have given up on the team being successful next season without giving them a chance.

No, you said this...

Locky is the only player who won't be here next year so i expect to see a Top4 finish 2yrs in a row.

So not only do you have them up there for a top 4 spot in 2012 but also 2013 even though we're yet to see how the club will adjust to life without Locky. All I've said is that at this stage, I see us as a middle of the road team, the ultimate fence sitting response because it's difficult to see how the club will be affected when Lockyer isn't there at all.

I never said they didn't have a chance, honestly, that's just you distorting my post.

Confident we'll go well, but who cares about next year at this stage anyway. We've got a Premiership to win this year.

Eh I was just helping the mods. Didn't see Nashy's post until afterwards.

Forget the premiership atm, I'm more focussed about the Origin series. [icon_razz1

I never said 2013 i said 2yrs in a row, This year i expect we should hit the top4 on form, And next year the boys will be a great chance at making it 2yrs in a row in the top4.

Ah my bad on that front then. icon_thumbs_u

And in 2013 we will have signed Cooper* So we are sweet...

*Probably won't but let me think it.

We are no chance, Lockyer is the club and without him we will be nothing.

The evidence is in the way we were thrashed by the Storm without Lockyer and how a Parramatta team minus Jarrad Hayne ran rings around a Broncos team without Lockyer. [icon_wink

hell no, **** origin

May sound corny, but I think the side needs to be closer than ever.

We wont have Locky's leadership and aura of "everything's going to be ok" turning a game on its head by himself so everyone needs to work together as a unit. There is no one definitive leader, but there are many of them to pull the side together if the going gets tough.

I think we will see Wallace step up after being in Locky's shadow

Yep. The Broncos went through similar in 1999 when Alf walked out early in the year and nobody else was in form. The club rallied together, players dug deep and fought for eachother, and dragged ourselves out of trouble.

I firmly believe that experience set us up for the 2000 premiership.

i think we're going to have a few years of just grinding out wins without scoring many points to be honest, as none of our potential replacements for Lockyer or current halves seem capable of controlling a game and consistently setting up line breaks/tries.

We don't have Australian reps left over in the halves or even one at hooker, nor do we have an immortal in waiting at fullback this time though. Our 1, 6, 7 and 9 even without Alf was still one of, if not the, best in the comp.

Being realistic, I think Big Pete is on the mark. I'd expect us to be thereabouts the bottom half of the 8. I would be disappointed if we missed the finals however. I don't expect us to be challenging for a premiership.

Nor do I. I would expect we'd be in the hunt for a finals spot, and I wouldn't be surprised for a much improved showing in 2013.

I actually expect good things from 2012 onwards, as we're progressively becoming less dependent on Lockyer, but you can't just replace Locky.
No one, not even JT, Smith or Cronk can steady or guide a team like he does, so we'll miss his leadership on the field more than his ability imo.
Norman has shown glimpses and is quietly improving. Unlike mc1 said, not many teams will have a spine like ours next season, even though the Storm will be stratospheric when compared with everyone else, and only Manly will arguably have a better combo than us.

Still, I can comfortably live with:
1- Hoffman / Beale
6- Norman / Wallace
7- Wallace / Hunt
9- Macca / Baptiste (provided Macca plays like he has been playing the last couple of weeks)

It's easy to expect your team to fail, and stand in pride when they prove you wrong.

Indeed. And anyone who knows me knows I err on the side of pessimism for games. Mainly about trying to lessen the pain if the Broncos lose. Seriously it used to REALLY get to me if the Broncos went down. And wins, generally, were expected so was hard to get too excited. So a natural defence mechanism was to try and reduce my expectations so that it wouldn't be so bad if we lost, and more euphoric if we won.

Some people confuse it with disloyalty. It's not.

I'm actually looking forward to the Broncos post Locky.

I'm happy with the young talent we have at the club, and i'm sure someone will step up and fill the massive hole left by Lockyers departure.

It happens everytime a superstar leaves out great club and i'm sure it'll happen again.
