Paul Crawley ranks the 2020 spines in tomorrow's Courier Mail, with the Broncos coming in 13th, above the Tigers, Bulldogs, and the Titans.

Roosters, Storm, Raiders, Rabbitohs, Sea Eagles, Cowboys, Dragons, Knights, Eels, Warriors, Sharks & Panthers sit above us, in that order.

13TH BRISBANE BRONCOS

1. Jamayne Isaako
6. Anthony Milford
7. Brodie Croft
9. Jake Turpin/Andrew McCullough

CRAWLEY SAYS:

"Anthony Seibold has potentially gambled his coaching future on achieving what Craig Bellamy could not with Croft in Melbourne. Given the youth of the Broncos’ likely spine and the fact Isaako, Milford and Turpin are all instinctive players, the pressure will be on Croft to conduct perhaps the most naturally brilliant roster in the league. His inability to do so is believed to be the reason Bellamy let him go. It is no good having the best crop of young players in the competition if the team lacks direction."

There are big question marks on pretty much everyone in that spine.
Will Isaako be a ball hog? Will Milford actually reverse his downward trajectory as a player? Will Croft actually give us what we need? Will Turpin be able to be consistently good?

Downward trajectory as a player lol **** off.

Milford 2015-early 2016: Great
Milford 2018: Not as good
Milford 2019: Even more "not as good"

🤔

2018 = our best player.

I'll allow him one under par year. Regardless of his 2015 year in a team with Parker and Hodges, Hunt at his peak etc.

That's not a 'downward trajectory' - that's an anomaly. With mitigating factors.

Your questions over Croft and Turpin are valid.

Croft wasn't given the opportunity to conduct in Melbourne. That job was handled by one C. Smith who didn't allow Croft to play a proper half backs game.

13th is a bit harsh, but if it fires its top 1-3, if it fails, its spuds for sure.

He peaked in 2016 and has been progressively worse ever since. That's a downward trend.

Disagree.

His kicking game was close to the best in 2018. He changed his game out of necessity. He didn't peak in 2016, bullshit.

He filled Hunt's void (giggity) in 2016, so it stood out more.

He is a better player now than he was in 2015. Injuries, bad karma and a dose of ego have dampened his impact.

TBH I don't think 13th was too unfair. We have a brand new spine so realistically it has zero runs on the board and a lot of unknown variables.

There are one or two club spines above us that you could argue are pretty mediocre (Warriors, Panthers) but they all have at least one proven gun so that probably puts them in front of us for now, but we definitely have the potential to seriously climb those rankings if a few things cluck for us.

FTR I'd also knock the Dragons down to only just above us if they move McInnes to the Back Row.

Ummm, sorry Paul? Isn't that the Croft that wore the 7 in the club that clinched the minor premiership in a canter, winning 20 games and losing only 4? If that's not achieving sign me up!

Talk about agenda driven
