Bit more gametime to fix his defence (probably just a lack of fitness to play at this level) and TeKura will be great! I had high hopes for Bayliss but happy for him to be a minimum wage plodder for the next couple seasons while these young forwards come through

He looked more ready in the trials than Baylis to me .
Why not next year ?

Game awareness ? He `s a prop not a half back ...

He finished last season in Colts after four ISC games off the bench he was done. Against the Bears and Dolphins Timms and Lui just cut a path of destruction through him.

Te Kura missed a lot of tackles against the Dolphins just couldn't cope with the workload of defence when he was spotted and came up against experienced forwards.

He finished the year strongly back in Colts against Townsville but long way from Colts to NRL.

Against Ipswich on Saturday night, he has no awareness for who to run at and why, when it comes to brute strength, he can score tries like he did against the Magpies but that doesn't come up too much.

Last year was his first year out of school, he played MM, Colts and ISC off the bench that's a pretty good outcome. Same as Mozer first year out.

This year is about starting and playing ISC and I think he might take longer than one year.

He played second row in Meninga last year.

What about Radel?

Adding to before it's hard to know his position yet too- he's played front row and second row in Meninga and I said several times last season he looked lost at second row- Hinchey who is now with the Storm had a better Meninga season than Te Kura. He was moved back to the front row by the end of the Meninga season.

At second row he had some good games (Tigers) but it showed his lack of experience that he really didn't know what Olpoapu was doing and combine with his half- Hinchey was much better at it.

He was front row off the bench in ISC and front row in Colts. Off the bench is a hard role if you're unsure. You have to adapt quickly to a variety of roles and for a variety of times and he just didn't have the experience or knowledge to do that.

Donuts after losing Farnworth and Flegler:

“It’s disappointing, but we respect their decision and at least as a team and as a club we know where we stand heading into the season. Herbie and Tom have given ‘Kev’ their absolute commitment that they will give it their all this year and we don’t farewell them until the end of the year."
“The market is still adjusting with a new salary cap and a new team, but we now have certainty with our own position ahead of round one. We’ve been really disciplined with our recruitment and re-signed a lot of players over the past two seasons.”

Parker:

“The attraction of the Broncos unfortunately has lost its shine. There is another threat now to the Broncos. Any time you bring another team in there’s options for everyone and Redcliffe have money to spend, they haven’t overspent and they are building a roster to make them successful long term. What used to be the big bright red light of the Broncos has actually diminished and that’s because of the seasons that have unfolded over the last four years. That’s a reality. Over a long period of time, the big lights of the Broncos were burning bright, but they are not the powerhouse they used to be."
“When I was at the Broncos, I had guys like Shane Webcke, Petero Civoniceva and Andrew Gee, household names, to learn from and that’s not there anymore at the Broncos. Flegler and Farnworth are outstanding signings for the Dolphins – I have no doubt they will kick on there.”
Parker got really fixated on the "light" analogy.

Maybe it was this big red light that went out...

Think we had Tomasi Seru on a development deal, apparently not any more. Playing with the Silktails in NSW Cup, apparently might go to Cows or Dogs.

Given our dearth of second rowers now, I imagine one of Capewell or Riki will also be prioritised but that said, second rowers are a dime a dozen these days, you can basically pick one from Q Cup and they will do a great job for you.

wonder if su'a would be worth a chat to end of last year there were talks of him wanting out of the merge
I think Sua is a bit of a dime a dozen 2nd rower to be honest... he could want some decent coin as well, but not overly sure that he's worth it.

Might be worthwhile having a chat to see if he's interested and at what price he'd be wanting

Good stuff... I understand you may need d*ckheads in your RL team to win a comp, but it's good to see a guy who seems like he's also a good character, doing well.

The NRL and NRLPA are talking about increasing squads from 30 to 38 next season:

"Under the new roster model, the extra eight players would come from a supplementary list outside of the top 30, replacing the current group of six development players. Players on the new supplementary list would be available from round one, not round 11 which is the current rule."
Bit of a whatever, but it might raise the question of why not make the bench more flexible? For example, be able to use any 4 of your 6.
