Apparently Redcliffe has an incredible development system, not seeing it myself.

Under 18 play finals this week and Under 16 were undefeated. Development was never going to mean round one this year. Then add in the NRL players that have come from the Dolphins- Broncos have five.

Hmmm…wasn’t he on a train and trial with us too?

They finish a few weeks after Christmas. He couldn't win a Broncos' contract went back to Wynnum- he has no link to the Broncos before or after that trial contract.

Not sure how good Plath Jnr is?! @1910 you watch a lot of ISC. Thoughts?

He played well against the Dolphins, didn't do too much the two weeks before that. He was starting to settle in.

I admire the way he always finds a way to get through injuries or change of position he adapts. He's been up to ISC and then back to Colts and bench then lock against Dolphins.

He finished last season in Colts playing seven and scoring two tries and then is starting lock in round three in Cup and scores two tries.

That's pretty rare in a young player. Might not play 150 NRL games but will always be a spot at clubs for those type of players.

Of the five current broncos how many were at redcliffe before they became broncos... we're they just playing at redcliffe when they were a feeder team for us or did they actually come through the redcliffe system?

Paix and Walsh just Cup.
Te Kura all the way to Under 18 then moved to Norths
Smoothy- moved there himself from Falcons
Staggs- Colts and Cup

Whats the story with Piakura?
From memory we signed him for a few years at 400k. It was soon after we lost Walsh to the warriors.
Will he crack the 17, outside of the origin period? Or are we best off letting him look elsewhere.
From what I have seen of him in his limited top grade minutes he wasn’t outstanding like the raps on him would have you believe (he got sent to the bin from memory)?
Happy to be proved wrong.

only 20 good thing now is he has to do his time in lower grades and demand selection on performances there alone and not desperation from us like in previous years,as we are seeing with riki he is really coming good now he has got some experience.

He's been solid but hasn't set the world on fire. Which is good, we usually flash our new toys around and someone pinches them.

He has to learn to be good in a cup team before he can be great in an NRL team.

Te Kura is the one to watch though, rapid development. Hopefully signed for a while.

I can see Te Kura ending up as the 17th player in the side next year, perfect first / second-row hybrid.

I wasn't too fussed with Te Kura in the trial/s tbh but you can see there's something there just with his size and athleticism. I haven't seen him in Cup but it sounds like next year he might get some bench time. I hope we can keep at least some of the good kids coming through and they don't feel their path is blocked by Payne/Patty.

I thought he was pretty average in the trials, looked far too raw.

But after seeing him in the qcup last weekend, admittedly in a dominant team he was incredible. He's definitely going to be something special, hopefully for us

You should bookmark this as your "I told you so moment" in the event he does come good. I've noticed you flying the flag for him for some time. On the flipside, you're not a Bayliss fan, have I got that right?

I liked the look of Shalom O'Fou in the trials. He's only played one Cup game since.

You should know by now I'm not one to toot my own horn. I go the Gould route of saying so much rubbish that eventually something will be right but what about the other 99 times that are wrong? That's why I don't really do 'told you so's'.

Noted, regardless. I even remember you were a Kennedy fan there for a minute - before it became cool.

Haha yeah but then I was also a Niu at fullback apologist, so all swings and round abouts.

Nah , I was 1st on the train .
And I was bagging Baylis too . I was saying beef Te Kura up he will be a weapon in a year or two .

He popped an off load in the trial that promised bigger and better things .
Impressed me more than Baylis or Piakura .

The fact that he played with the other train and trialers against Wynnum then also played against an NRL squad tells me the powers that be wanted to see him against stronger opposition .

Dream scenario, put him in the gym with marty, bulk him up and turn him into our version of NAS.
