Fox Sports reporting that we signed James Johnson who plays Center from Knights for next season. They’re also reporting that he’s currently training with our main squad. Does anyone know about this?
For the life of me, I don’t get why we’re stacking ourselves with too many Center options?
According to pure knight from the knights forum a month ago, he has signed a q cup deal with a Brisbane based team. He said that Johnson was one of their jersey flegg teams best players last year.

A few of the knights forum members seem bitterly disappointed

With too many Center options we now have available, it makes me think of the scary possibility i.e, the club is not confident that Herbie will hang around post 2023 hence positioning ourselves with numerous options.

Herbie is a must keep for us for mine & I hope DD, Ikin & the coaching department look after him in a such a way that he doesn’t want to leave us for some shitty false promising club.

Pamper him, cuddle him, feed him & value him as a must keep(I don’t care even if we show him some lenience towards training drills as long he performs week in week out @100%) and so should be signed long term.

I agree mate, I hate to say it but he’s gone in 2024.

It is concerning but let's not get worked up about something that may not happen. After all, Manu who is basically an equivalent player is a fringe grade barely above minimum wage player at the Roosters, so Herbie might sign a similar contract.

I don't think herbie is as big a loss as people are making out. Feels like a bit of rose tinted glasses mixed with FOMO. He's a loss, for sure, not saying that at all but he is not joey manu and he doesn't have a passing game. Great tackle breaker who was in form last year but which centre do you think teams did more video and were keeping an eye on more, him or staggs? Now he's a more marked man let's see what he can do b4 we start throwing 700,000+ at him.

He is at Norths.

Rose tinted glasses or FOMO, Herbie has a higher ceiling than both Manu & Staggs for mine.

Look, I don’t intend to start a debate as to who’s the best between Herbie, Manu & Staggs but hypothetically IF all 3 of them becomes available for 2024 to be signed, I would zero in on Herbie for many reasons.

Manu & Staggs at 22 years of age are not as good as they’re now & they’ve their own flaws to date.

I understand that we’re entitled to our perspectives but mine is that we should hold on to Herbie for longer period

Ship Staggs, extend Herbie. Cobbo and Farnworth centres in 2024.
I agree. With walsh at the back, we need centres and wingers who will take the early hit ups and make metres. Oates, herbie and cobbo do this. Staggs, not so much. So we would lose early go forward if we lost herbie as opposed to staggs.

This could also enable us to introduce mariner into first grade on the wing which is a good transition

Kobe Hetherington had surgery today after rupturing his biceps during training activities on Tuesday.
Is that basically the same as Herbie last year??

Was he out for like 8 weeks or something??

Manu actually pays the Roosters to let him play for them.. so he’s -ve on their salary cap 😗

I'm pretty sure that's everyone's perspective

The question is how big a loss it would be if he moved on and therefore how hard you go to keep him

I value him and want to keep him, but I'm not throwing the club's cap out of balance to do so

Let’s hope that this becomes the clubs perspective as well but won’t have any effect on our cap by keeping Herbie for long 😉.
After all, Penrith mimicked what we’ve been doing for ages and able to go back-to-back. Let’s get the Premierships back & once again become the club everyone wants to play for
