But he was a million dollar a season player, that was the logic you brought into the discussion. You used Taupau's salary as a means to justify his star power.

Not logic . What clubs are willing to pay him is a their choice .

Star in that he has played 222 games and been a rep for Nz and Samoa bro .

I really like Taupau’s quick play the ball while in attack. He going up against Thaiday was my memory of him going toe to toe with opponents other than that, I didn’t paid any attention on him since. He would be real handy come Origin & late season games.

Wonder whose(Ikin’s I reckon)idea was to get him but I see it as though we’re paying him, we’re really paying him for our younger guys to develop some mongrel & strict training habits from him.
 
Taupau 5-6 years ago would have been good. Again, might be a "professional standards" kind of signing, someone experienced and who will show good leadership for the younger players.
 
Good signing IMO, we desperatly needed someone who is not a pillow in the middle.
 
With the updated salary cap, I can see him being on 600 / 4 years.

Yep, it's still a rumour at this stage. But a strong one. The source (Badel/News Corp) has been super reliable at the bigger picture recently, but they've been falling short on the finer details. I hope it's not another one year deal.

Edit: if you'd like to dissect the rumour word by word, there are a couple of free variants of it. Gist is that the Broncos are confident, not that Herbie has signed, but they claim he's given a verbal commitment. Of what we don't know and the claim has doubters. Given that the prediction is the signing is likely still a couple of months off, they can't be that close to agreeing on numbers:
