Kevvie on the Madden signing:

“Jock is a great signing for our NRL squad, he is a talented young player who has some NRL experience and knows what it takes to train and play at the top level.

“He’s a good developing half with plenty of skill and vision in his passing, running and kicking games and gives us some really nice depth in the halves, and we saw some of that on display at Suncorp earlier this season.

“We are looking forward to Jock joining us for preseason in November as we build into a big 2023.”

Someone made the comment that could it be possible we see madden at 14 paix at 9 next year?

I don’t even think it’s a great idea. We have a young bloke who realistically has committed to 2 years of being a depth player. He knows that. Why wouldn’t we use the seemingly rare chance to develop a rare commodity in a young talented half in reserve grade and get him his 10-15 games of first grade at minimum off Reyno’s inevitable injuries. Chances are Ezra will miss a few games over the coming 2 years from whatever May occur whether that be a concussion, injury, suspension, dropped. Ezra for mine won’t be halfback material in 2 years. I don’t even have that much faith he will stick loyal to us. Don’t try and turn another Half this one with some promise and potential if we play our cards right when the end goal is that he will be no better and likely worse than Billy. Yet again don’t make our team worse to suit our agenda. At the minute we don’t have better 9’s than Paix and Walters. They remain our 9 and 14 for mine.

JOCK MADDEN IS A GREAT SIGNING. Not often a depth signing can hold this much opportunity. He could turn out a complete and utter bust from when he was Aus schoolboys captain, fine so be it. At the end of the day he is a depth signing, that’s what we expect him to be, but he can be so much more and the potential to do so with 2 years of development and hopefully inheriting the halfback spot at the age of 24-25 with half a decade of development with hopefully 30+ games under his belt than YOU BEAUTY.

Does anyone remember that brief period last year against the tigers when it was being reported Oatesy had a compound fracture of his femur? **** that was a rough couple of hours. Turned out he just got a gash by a boot or something?

Im glad the big fella is sticking around

Yeah just ended up being a huge welt with a cut but looked like a bone sticking into where it shouldn’t be and spooked everyone

Not sure how the affiliates work but The club needs to put Mozer and Madden in the same team playing 9 and 7, if Madden is a chance of being a successor to Reynolds the combination and understnding with Mozer (if he's the future 9) needs to start now in the lower grades.

Issue with doing that is that Mozer finished the year in Colts and only played three ISC games. He's a chance to play Colts at times next season too. That's a negative but possible positive could be Hunt.

Norths are losing Gamble and Madden could be a great fit in there playing with Piakura on the right and he could play for the back to back premiers.

Wynnum are very good at developing players and he could play with Scarlett and Packer.

Hopefully next season will be Piakura’s year & he sees regular first grade.

Never seen anyone called jock in my 40years, can't say I like it.

I have been waiting since 2019 so I’m hoping 2023 is another step forward. Definitely had his best month ever the last month.
Hoping he has a full preseason.

Is he heading to the world cup or needing surgery??

Given his NRL career has barely started at the moment it would be nice to see him pull out of the world cup and declare his intentions to focus entirely on the Broncos and making the first grade team.

Same with guys like TC, Willison, etc.

World cup is exciting and all, but they'll be playing for legit minnow teams (excluding TC) and they haven't even established themselves as NRL first graders... last thing you'd want is to pick up a major injury vs Jamaica and miss the entire preseason and/or NRL season.

You won’t get that with the islander boys - they’ll always want to honour their heritage. Plus they won’t get to play many World Cups

Only injury and/or family member incarceration will stop them it seems.

Willison did both shoulders against the Blackhawks, his rehab will be slow.

Madden will make a fitting upgrade in Kevvie's halves cleanout: Grand Finalist and highest paid Bronco of all time Anthony Milford; Man of Steel winner Brodie Croft; and Cowboys Way Award winner, Origin winner and potential Clive Churchill medalist Tom Dearden. He will surely blossom under the mentorship of the coach's son, the proof in the pudding of Kevin Walters' coaching.

Just curious any idea how much time he has spent in nsw cup?

Coach Reynolds and assistant coach K Walters will make sure Jock has a looong apprenticeship . LOL .
