The minimum age limit.

You would only do it if you were going to play him- Broncos aren't going to do that.

You'd be applying for an exemption to sit at squad number 30 and do nothing that's a waste of time taking up a spot. You could achieve the exact same thing making him a development player for 2023 and give a player you can use that 30th spot in the squad.

Didn't the Roosters do that with Suaalli (however you spell it) though? They didn't play him despite getting an exemption for him. I'm not saying we should do it, just saying the situations are potentially pretty similar aren't they?

Yes, a teenage playmaker is about the last thing we need right now.

We have to prepare for the possibility of weeks without Reynolds again, during which we really have no one else we can trust to take over the reins in the spine. Madden, Smoothy and Mam have barely a season of first grade between them collectively. Walters has just admitted he didn't cut it in the halves, so he's going to try to learn to be a hooker in the off season (his words not mine). The closest we have to an old head in the spine is Walsh - yes, really. And if he moves into the halves, it means having to blood Farnworth or Cobbo at the back, or revert to Niu.

We need an experienced hooker or even better, a utility. That has to be our last signing.

No he played at 17 and 294 days. If Karl was a 100kg winger you thought you could use you’d maybe do it. A 17 year old six or 13 is no chance.

His path will be MM then hopefully some Cup. Then NRL squad 24.

Broncos Academy and recruitment chief, Simon Scanlan:

“Blake will be in our full-time squad this pre-season. He is an outstanding young talent, one of the best we have ever had come through the Academy. He has a similar physique to Cameron Smith. He is tall for a hooker, he is lean up top but he has very strong legs, just like Cam Smith."
“He is coming off a couple of surgeries, so the main focus for Blake is to get some weight on and establish himself regularly in the Queensland Cup with a view to debuting at some stage in the NRL in 2023. I expect him to debut at some stage at the back half of the year. This year is more of a development year for Blake, rather being a regular week to week in the NRL."
“The big thing is he wants to win and he wants to be the best. When you have a kid who not only has talent but has the work ethic and desire to be the best, that’s when you get a star.”
"Blake is highly intelligent at school, he works really hard on his education. Blake is a very smart player, he will always take the right option. He is not a selfish player, he will take the best option for the team and that makes him very good.
“He has so much time for a young bloke. What he does at junior level is what works at senior level. He isn’t just running over the top of smaller kids, the stuff he does will work in the NRL. Blake would want to play NRL tomorrow, but we will be patient with him.”

Blake Mozer:

“Cam Smith has always been my hero. If I had to choose someone from the Broncos, I would say Darren Lockyer, but being a hooker, I loved watching Cam Smith. I liked the fact he wasn’t the fastest player, but he didn’t have to use speed or strength to get the better of his opponents. He just used his brain and his knowledge of the game and that’s how I like to play my footy, I like to out-think the opposition."
“I see my future at the Broncos. I would love to debut for the Broncos next season and hopefully spend my entire career with the club.”

Looks like he's off to the Storm then within two-three years.

Do other clubs also advertise their young talent?
Probably do down in Sydney... although there's so many teams they may not, because it's only relevant to fans of that team.

GC no one cares about so no one would click.

Probs do in the T'ville, Canberra and Newcastle papers as well, but we dont see it because we dont care about it and it doesnt pop up on this forum.

Storm no one cares about because they're all QLD kids and it's not AFL

Warriors no one cares about because it's not union

What in tarnation. Never saw this coming.

And he’s sitting out of the World Cup to focus on the broncos preseason - what a guy
Whoever wrote that story….that fluff piece…..
It’s like they are the same person or did the same tafe course as the people who write the pamphlets that god botherers on push bikes deliver door to door. I nearly threw up the propaganda was so strong.

Been reading reactions to the announcement. 9/10 go the same way. Not pretty.

What about the forgotten castoff who also had to make way to accomodate him. The young bloke who has been killing it and now looks like he has a real career in front of him. tommy Dearden. Just like billy Walters this guy also wanted to be a bronco for life, we didn’t even make him an offer.Played state of origin and was an integral part of qld’s game 3 win.
