Hearing that Billy has been training a lot at 6 so far this off-season. The information supposedly came directly from Billy. If true, either Madge doesn't see him as a 9, is just filling in until Hunt arrives, or Hunt is going to start the year at 9 and Billy plays 6 until Ezra returns.

I like this to be honest, get that Mozer/Hunt with Reynolds and Walsh combo going and whoever plays 6 just chimes in

Id say its more likely until Hunt gets there Billys playing 6 for the time being.

I reckon Billy at 6 is madge saying "i want you learn at least 2 positoons in our team and that bench utility spot is yours until mam gets back". I also think the squad and depth is far better when the back ups can cover multiple spots. If billy can play 9 and 6 to a decent standard, rogers and madden, and smoothy plus paix could all be gone by the start of the 2026 season with bukowski coming through at 9 as well.
Then you'd have reynolds, mam, hunt, black, maybe even seigwalt, as halves cover. Mozer, hunt, walters and bukowski as 9 cover. Plenty...

We are somewhat stuck with him by kevs design. It's no coincidence whatsoever he was our only "hooker" not off contract this season. Kev was able to depart while leaving him a small protective dome. Not sure its enough though, he may still be shed.

While Ezra "recuperates" ...from the horrors of earning 100's of thousands of $$$$/year.

That's us at our strongest/most proven. No point messing with a fringe NRL player at this point.
Ideally, Mozer gets more minutes than Billy.

A recuperated Ezra...you'd have to assume/hope
BW falls away.

and then there's of course the assumption that AREY will play more than 1/3 of a season.....
BW fills a role in that substitute rotation......

Yeah I am of the same thinking. Though I won’t be shocked if Billy is left out for one of the other options, I’d say your line up makes the most sense

Billy makes the most sense I think but I could see Paix making a push.

Yea, I’ve said it before but I think Smoothy is the best traditional 9 at the club. Billy would only beat him on utility value.

If I were introducing a young gun like Mozer to first grade, Smoothy is the one out of the 3 that I would want him working alongside.

Billy was fine as backup 7 when he has done it in the last few years but 6 is not ideal because he sucks at instinct half he hasn't got the pace or instinct to give out that quick pass to options to make it work, he has developed a decent boot in the last few years though.

Honestly think he would be a better 13 then a 6, Somehow I feel the likes of Cobbo would make for a good makeshift 6 over him, he is surprisingly a decent short kicker and would provide options if he runs himself as he tends to be more aware of the players around him for offloads or passing with his fullback background.
