6 Forwards

Last Friday night the Cows started the game with 6 Forwards and no hooker

this has me thinking this is quite a masterstroke (not only for the cowboys team)

the first quarter of the game normally dictates how the rest of the game will go

no by having the 6 fresh forwards out there they can get a roll on and dominate territory ,hopefully score some trys and put the game away in the first half

defensively its not bad as they are fresh and lateral defence is not so slow to move, rendering this period the safest time to have all the big boppers on the park at once

I hope they try it again on Friday night

And it's not new. The Broncos did this heading into the 1997 finals. Andrew Gee started at hooker, right up to the Grand Final. John Plath would come off the bench.

Good old unlimited interchange. If the team had 12 forwards they would've had 8 of them on at once for the entire match.

as they say everything old is new again now days

Nathan Brown and Brian Smith were both doing this back in 2005 - with Ennis and Marsh on the bench respectively. Young and Riddell would start and then move to the back row when the hookers came on. If I recall correctly these teams finished one and two on the table that year.
