A question about the brawl.

I hate both teams so much so would find it very hard to cheer for either one of them, and would find it very hard to watch either one of them lift the trophy. Last night's game just exacerbated that hate. Honestly, I love seeing a bit of biffo in a footy game, but what we saw last night was NOT good for the game, and that was a shocking game of Rugby League. So much inconsitency in the refereeing (which Melbourne bought upon themselves), and so much ejaculation over great plays by Manly when in reality the bounce of the ball just went their way all night.
Absolutely 100% this! ^^^^

If those two are in the final, I'll go hibernating somewhere where they never heard of the NRL... :sigh:

Manly and Melbourne in the Grand Final? I probably wouldn't watch.

I'd watch it for the massive fight, I have no doubt we will see another one.

In an unprecedented crackdown on thuggery after the most spectacular rugby league brawl in decades, the punishments are set to include:

- Test stars Glenn Stewart and Adam Blair could be rubbed out until after the grand final;

- At least six other players, including Manly fullback Brett Stewart, face suspensions of up to four weeks for running 30m to join a sideline fight after two players had been sin-binned;

- Players who entered the field of play from the interchange bench face bans;

- And clubs are facing massive fines for operational breaches and for what NRL boss David Gallop described as "very serious and unacceptable behaviour".

Fingers crossed!

Would be brilliant if that happened.

The players from the bench never entered the field at any time, the fact they got involved at all could be a problem even though they were only breaking up the fight.

There is a growing push from some quarters to strip up to 6 points from both clubs for bringing the game into disrepute. I would be shocked if that happened.

I don't think anything too drastic will happen.

I hope it will, but I just can't see it.

Nup. Fines and short suspension to the main 2. That's it

Despite their relative improvements in playing a quality brand of attacking football I share Jeba's interest in the grand final.

I'd still watch as I enjoy the festivity of the day itself but my interest in the game would be small.

In fact, the last time I cared about the Grand Final as a neutral was way back in 2003. Every other Grand Final has just felt like any other game.

Lol now I have read it all, it's good for the game. Brilliant.

Haha yes Rocky, surely you worded that wrong champ?

Bit of an over-kill if you ask me. Firstly, it doesn't bring the game into disrepute - If anything, it's good for the game as it has attracted a lot of attention. Secondly, how often does this even happen? It's extremely rare, so why the big crack down? We don't need to suspend a thousand players for it FFS.

For all the wrong reasons.

A fight every so often would be great, but not what happened on the sideline.

4 players running 30+ metres to join in, isn't great for the game.

I liked the fight, until the 4 fackwits ran 30 metres to 'bash' one player.

Not really Jeb. Let's be honest, put your hand up if you didn't like the fight on the sideline?

Like Kaz said, it was in the 'that's just Rugby League' category until Blair was held defenseless by 5 ****wits from Manly and when players came off the bench to be involved.

If you reckon that's "good for the game" you're delusional.

Storm cheating the cap and Hopoate also brought the game a lot of attention, spose that was also good for the game.

You enjoy watching 5 guys lie into one guy on the ground?

The media I have heard & read, are going on about the 5 on 1.
