All-Stars Thread

It had potential early on, the first couple of years were really exciting with Preston Campbell and Wendell Sailor etc, but nowadays nobody of any worth is really playing in it, and they hardly take it seriously.

I'll still watch it because hey, it's Rugby League in February, but I probably won't get hyped or anything.

If they have to make it about the race, I think we should see Aboriginal vs. Maori.

I've got some cheap tickets if anyone wants them.

4 adults, 4 children.

$10 each for the adults, $5 each for the children.

S516.

I was watching the Brisbane Roar game last night and the turf at Suncorp was utterly shit, it was coming loose and leaving little divots everywhere.

I'd really hate to see a player seriously injured in what is essentially a pointless exhibition match and I hope the ground's staff are going to have the field looking better than that for our season.

Some five years( maybe six )ago when the indigenous game was started I forecast that it would only last 3 or 4 years and then the coaches would start to restrict players entering fearing losses in a pointless game. I wasn't exactly right, it has lasted longer than I thought but the recent rumblings about it seem to indicate it's imminent demise. I think the reasons given are not in line with my thoughts either but seem to be about the financial side of things.

I didn't like it particularly as I wasn't in favour of an event that was race based and couldn't think of another event that was based on race. Perhaps there is and I'm ignorant of its existence. Irrespective of my thoughts the future of the game is certainly clouded.
Origin . Haha. At least for Queenslanders.

This bloke is indigenous? never would have guessed. Even his name should exclude him from the team

the state of that ground is an ongoing mystery to me ... It's like the early days of the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne only that they've managed to solve their issues despite having a far less favourable climate and more human traffic on their ground.

whatever they've been doing at Suncorp over the past decade isn't working well enough often enough.. I could probably count on two hands the number games I've watched at the ground over that time where the playing surface has been solid under foot and looking a million bucks. It seems to be permanently damp, slimy and soft on the edges of the field and around the try-line.

Meantime the playing surfaces down south are mint from round 1 to round 26 .. even the olympic stadium in sydney seems to have figured it out.

IMO suncorp is not good enough often enough. whether its the type of grass they're using or their methods, they're way behind the rest imo.

With all the player drop outs and dud selections the game just becomes farcical. The concept has good intentions but do you really believe that players would pull out of a Grand Final if they had injury concerns?. I'm taking a girl out on a date to the game tonight and she is very excited as it's her first live game. I'm backing the World team to win due to the fact they have Cameron Smith leading the team and have a good halves pairing of Widdop/A.Reynolds.

Not too mention the safe hands and courageous kick returns of our Jordan Kahu!

If anyone is interested they have the curtain raiser on NITV now. It's only u16 but they are going pretty hard at each other.

The under 16 game was actually really really good. 16 all final score .Qld missed a penalty kick from right in front with 2 minutes to go.

Pretty keen to see how Roberts and Kahu go, that's about the only thing that's got me watching this game.

God i love footy.
I think it was SF that said footy could turn a shit day into a great one.....?
That's my day today :-)
Inglis, Smith, Bird, Kahu etc etc..... love it!!!!

When are they going to start playing footy?

While it may have resulted in the 'right' decision, I don't see the point in having a video referee in a game like this.
