Try to avoid biases towards certain players/countries where you can, do it on the best you have seen. Start with a test team I will do an ODI one later. My side begins in the late Border early Taylor era.

1. Matt Hayden
2. Sachin Tendulkar (could bat here if he wanted to and I need the room)
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Brian Lara
5. Jacques Kallis
6. Yousuf Youhana (Mohammad Yousuf)
7. Adam Gilchrist
8. Shaun Pollock
9. Shane Warne (C)
10. Curtly Ambrose
11. Glenn McGrath

12th Man: Jonty Rhodes (specialist fielder)

1. Virender Shewag
2. Matthew Hayden
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Brian Lara
6. Adam Gilchrist
7. Chris Cairns
8. Daniel Vettori
9.Shane Warne
10. Shane Bond
11.Glenn Mcgrath

12.

This is tough!

1. Matt Hayden
2. Desmond Haynes (was in the twilight of his career, but was still amazing)
3. Brian Lara
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Viv Richards (again, twilight of his career, but he was a marvel)
6. Allan Border (c)
7. Ian Healy
8. Ian Botham
9. Shane Warne
10. Curtly Ambrose
11. Glenn McGrath

12. Steve Waugh (hard to leave him out)

1. Matt Hayden
2. The Brown Gnome
3. Brian Lara
4. Ricky Ponting
5. Mark Waugh
6. Allan Border (c)
7. Ian Healy
8. Shame Warne
9. Curtly Ambrose
10. Allan Donald
11. Glenn McGrath

1. Virender Shewag
2. Matthew Hayden
3. Sachin Tendulkar
4. Brian Lara
5. Alan Border (c)
6. Ian Healy
7. Shaun Pollock
8. Shane Warne
9. Shoaib Akhtar
10. Curtly Ambrose
11. Courtney Walsh

12. Daniel Vittori

You would have Walsh ahead of McGrath?

And Akhtar in there? I assume based on the 3 tests he was able to get on the field and not have a hissy fit?

Nah, I was choosing a team more on players I liked and I was never very fond of McGrath :P And despite Akhtar being a sook I was always in awe of his devastating bowling. Each to their own hey fellas icon_thumbs_u

Oh for sure, and fair enough if that's your criteria!

Of the super fast Paki quicks, I'd have them in this order:

1. Akram
2. Waqar
3. Shoaib

Waqar with the old bowl!!!! The original and best exponent of reverse swing!

And an articulate, thoughtful commentator too. I rate him.

The only sook is you by the sounds of it.

One of the greatest bowlers of alltime, let alone in our times and you leave him out because you come from a country that can't play cricket?

For shame.

Fu*k off with the baiting hammo.

I agree with Hammo bait or not. I said keep bias out. If you seriously think Akhtar (drug cheat and general nice guy) was/is better than McGrath let alone Wasim or Waqar your just plain silly.

No bait. MacGrath is one of the best bowlers of all time and you left him out. That's like me leaving out Tendulker because I don't like curry.

Or Lara because you don't like reggae.

I regret wasting my time in this thread now that I've had hammos crap to put up with. I didn't read that it had to be the best I had seen though, so if you want the best I have seen I would swap Ambrose with McGrath.

I agree, this is mighty tough!

1. M Hayden
2. S Gavaskar
3. S Tendulkar
4. B Lara
5. V Richards
6. A Border (c)
7. A Gilchrist
8. R Hadlee
9. S Warne
10. D Lillee
11. C Ambrose

12. G McGrath

Hated leaving McGrath out of my 11 but I couldn't have left out Lillee or Hadlee and Ambrose was McGrath before McGrath in my opinion. Put Border at 6 over Ponting but it could have easily been the other way around, I just think AB was better batting with the bowlers than Ricky would be - Not that it would probably matter with a batting line up like this one, AB would rarely get a hit!
