I suppose it is possible for him to leave the surgery until the end of the season.

Thurston had a couple of shoulder problems early on his career. He would hold off surgery until the end of the season and go under the knife then. I believe Gillett did the same thing.

Whether Milford can do it or not, we'll find out. But I would expect a lot more protection for him from our forwards.

Badel isn't claiming that he requires surgery at this point, he's claiming that he'll require it down the track.

Didn't we have like 4 players enduring off-season shoulder surgery a couple of years ago? Reed, Gillett, Oates and one other from memory.

This wouldn't be any different, shoulder reconstructions are about as simple as tooth cleanings nowadays. I expect Milford to come back in 6 weeks and be able to play just fine, have his surgery after the season ends, be ready to go for pre-season.

The way they have worded it suggests he does need surgery now, but he is going to try and put it off for as long as he can..

Did you read the quote you posted thoroughly?..

"Anthony will not require surgery at this point"

I'd say there's a pretty large chance he will require surgery at some point, whether it be a full reconstruction or a general clean-up.

That was the INITIAL report a few days after the injury...

It has now been a week since he did it, things can change for better or worse after the injury settles down a bit
