When Sean Hampstead didn't go to the video ref & a replay showed it was a Dogs try.

That was the turning point of the match.

All the players thought he would be going to the video ref & were standing around waiting.

The match hinged on events in a critical two minute period in the second half with the Knights clinging on to a four point lead at the time.

Bulldogs captain and second rower Andrew Ryan scrambled over the top of Newcastle five-eighth Jarrod Mullen to score what appeared to be a legitimate try in the 54th minute however, Hampstead obviously believed Mullen grounded the ball first, as he didn't even refer the critical incident to video referee Bill Harrigan.

Should have checked for sure especially when the ball was bobbling around but hey we whinge when they go too much and when they dont go at all so I dunno leave it to human error?

Props to Mr Bean for having the guts to make a call.

For what it's worth I thought the Knights player grounded it before it popped out and Ryan grounded it.

I thought the replay showed he missed it.

It looked like Mullen thought the Dogs scored.

I don't think he grounded it with any pressure at all, but i also have doubts as to whether Ryan knocked on before he grounded the ball.

Needless to say the Knights went on to score a few minutes later. Definitely the turning point.

I thought it was 50/50 glad the ref had some balls. I won money on the Knights so I don't care [icon_razz1

I'm happy that he didn't go to the video ref. I like the fact that he had the testicular fortitude to make a call, even though it was the wrong one. I hate the Dogs, so I don't care.
