CRICKET Australia v India Summer

Josh Hazlewood will miss the second Test against India in Adelaide with a low grade left side injury.

As a result, Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett join Beau Webster as additions to the Australian squad.

Goodness me our depth is horrendous. Shame Richardson or Morris haven’t been able to stay fit or take wickets.

Doggett bowled extremely well against India A, so I understand his selection. Abbott is a bit of a Neser-lite and isn’t the worst choice but he feels a bit more like another of the in crowd getting picked.

The selectors had a huge opportunity to get someone younger in, i.e O’Neill and haven’t taken it. Pretty disappointing from that perspective.

Wont it just be Boland coming into the actual 11??

Why not bring Johnson in? Abbott and Doggett are bog average. Boland will play, but a 35 year old quick joining an already ageing side isn’t exactly future proofing the squad.

Is a nearly 30 year old that’s played six FC games in his career really the Test future?

I watched Sam Elliot at the Gabba this week. Gee he’s impressive, so tall and Bulls couldn’t handle him.

The ball flies off the bat to the slips. He’s had a great start.

We don’t really have any good young quicks around tbh.

Your man Fergus is likely a yard or 2 too slow for the selectors. Probably be handy in NZ and English conditions though.

I think you are right and Australia need to get with the times. England's approach will be the way forward and they have a bunch of medium bowlers. Lack of speed never affected Philander or late career McGrath. A guy who can move the ball both ways and off the seam is going to be a threat anywhere.

Englands approach doesn’t work in Australia though. Our selectors focus on speed and height a lot because generally our pitches are flat. You need a bit more speed or height to get anything out of them.

Ironic his mentor is Adam Dale who no matter what he did for Qld never was viewed as much and only played two Tests.

Wobble seam .
It`s taking the cricket world by storm . Why has it taken so long ?

Jacob Bethell who has no right being in a test side (basically England's Fraser-McGurk) is about to get a fifty chasing down a small total in NZ with his most prolific shot being the top edge pull.

This is the way tests are going, Australia needs to get on board. Bits and pieces cricketers who slog more than they block is where cricket has gone due to 20/20. Every now and then you'll still find a classical bat but they are few and far between.

Harry Brook averages 60 with this approach. Aus only has Head playing that way.

The WBBL final being played at the MCG might be the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen.

Renshaw already gone, its raining in Canberra but Konstas and Goodwin in. The future 1 and 3 for Aus?

What Konstas is doing right now, this is the way forward, rush him in to the test side and tell him to just go at whatever he wants. You have to fight fire with fire in tests now, bowlers lose their lines and lengths when you do. Playing timid gets you a Perth result.
