ANDREW McCullough has won his second Paul Morgan Medal after being named the NRMA Insurance Broncos’ Player of the Year tonight.
In a lavish function at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, McCullough streeted the field to win his second Paul Morgan Medal.
It was a popular announcement, after McCullough felt the pain of missing the Broncos’ finals run because of a serious knee injury.
The 2012 Player of the Year had surgery after tearing the ACL in his knee against the Eels in round 21.
But missing the final five games of the season didn’t make any difference to the Paul Morgan Medal count, after McCullough blew the opposition away in the first six rounds of the season.
He finished on top of the tally with 59 votes.
In the chasing pack was a trio of forwards, led by international Matt Gillett on 44 points.
Origin forward Josh McGuire was a point further back on 43 points, while the ever-present Alex Glenn finished on 40 points.
Captain Darius Boyd, the 2016 Paul Morgan Medal winner, finished fifth with 33 points.
In other awards, McCullough shared the coveted Players’ Players trophy with McGuire.
This award is always keenly contested, as it is voted on by the players’ teammates themselves.
Gillett was named the Best Forward of 2017, while Boyd received the Best Back trophy.
Glenn’s week-to-week efforts afforded him recognition for the Most Consistent Player of the Year.
The Play of the Year went to Gillett, for his amazing kick charge down late in the round-seven match against the Titans that led to the match-winning try from James Roberts.
Earlier, Patrick Carrigan was named the under-20s player of the year, with Payne Haas (Best Forward) and Kotoni Staggs (Best Back) also receiving trophies.

Boyd? Come on seriously Roberts was a good chance I thought. @1910 were you at it or did you watch it somewhere?

Did Blair get worst play of the year for murdering Maccas knee ?

How does Roberts not get best back?

Pretty blatant ego blowjob for Boyd. He would've been about 3rd in line for best back
