Re: Tipping Comp 2010

Nah, if you miss a round, bad luck, zero points is the best way to do it.

Re: Tipping Comp 2010

Why is that the best way to do it? That doesn't make any sense.

In all the tipping comps I've been in, if you can't get your tips in you get all away teams. It's not guaranteed for a lot of us that we'll get them in for every week of the whole comp. Chances are there could be 1 or 2 weeks where we will be so flat out we just won't have time. 0 points for not submitting is stupid.

Re: Tipping Comp 2010

Its been that way for the last 5 years.

Re: Tipping Comp 2010

And that's why I have failed to win for the last 5 years haha.

Why should you potentially be rewarded for not putting your tips in?

+1

One season I forgot to submit tips and got the away teams. That week, 6 of the 8 away teams won, and I got the best score of the week.

Doesn't seem right does it?

Re: Tipping Comp 2010

I have to say I'm a fan of away teams too. Or at least lowest score - 1. It's a personal thing though. I don't think I've ever finished a BHQ tipping comp because if you forget/can't get them in a couple of times then you're pretty much out of the running.

The purpose is not to reward those who don't get their tips in, it's to keep as many people involved for as long as possible.

But I am not the one organising it, so I will happily go along with whatever is decided (and probably give up in about round 12 [icon_wink )

Rocky: Harden up, princess!

Re: Tipping Comp 2010

Just tip every round right at the start of the season. You can still go in and change them every week as you see what form teams are in etc, BUT if there is a week where you forget or can't get to the tipping then at least you have some tips in and are still likely to get some points.

You're not rewarded. In most cases you're disadvantaged as it's usually the home team that wins.

But if you simply forget to put your tips in and you get ZERO? It's ridiculous. If you want to be harsh you should at least adjust the score to a score of like 4 for not putting your tips in. But Zero? It's silly.

I was leading my work one by 3 points in round 23. (I was first out of 10) However I forgot to put my tips in for the first time all year and got ZERO. That round happened to be an easy round and everyone got a minimum of 5.

After round 23, after leading, I was shoved down to position 5.

Zero points for a no tip is super lame.

Super lame huh, then run your own fucking tipping comp simple. It mean't to be a bit of fun and for the fist time ever in 5 years you pipe up and start with the 'your comp sucks rant'.

Better option would have been maybe Pming me saying hey Tee...blah blah blah blah. And then I would have probably responded by agreeing and changing it. But no you have to be a fuckwit and bitch about it publicly... whos the lame one... really.

Re: Tipping Comp 2010

Man, I'm in a comp and have been for years that takes 3 points OFF YOU if you don't tip.

My fault. Completely and utterly my fault. What's your point? [icon_lol1.

In the interest of fairness, that rule should dig itself a 10 foot hole, bury itself and die.[/quote:2bahh1qt]

OK fair, ok then.

You forget to put your tips in, and under the away teams rule you get more points than someone who remembered to put their tips in. Fair? Nuh uh.

I bet you hate many rules in Rugby League but that doesn't make you hate the game. [icon_razz1

My game my rules my way of thinking....

Re: Tipping Comp 2010

Actually one year I was running my office tipping comp and it happened so often that by about half way through the season barely anyone was putting their tips in. The next year I added a rule that if you didn't put tips more than 2 weeks in the season then you were out of the competition.

I don't think the home ground is as much of an advantage to football teams these days as it used to be (with only a couple of notable exceptions), and the away teams are often the better bet anyway. So I really really hate the "no tips, you get the away teams" rule. For mine it has to be either you get zero points or 2 points less than the lowest score of those that actually did put their tips in (which let's face it, could still be zero - or even negative)
