Big Name Props for 2011

There has been a lot of media attention regarding Ben Hannant and Petro coming to the Broncos in 2011.

I have a couple of issues with both of these guys

Hannant:
- Asking price is apparently over $400,000 a year. Way to much in my view
- Has already left the Broncos for more money once, whats stopping him from doing it a second time?

Petro:
- His age is what concerns me, dont get me wrong i think he is playing awsome atm.
However - Could be coming at a very big pay cut so that would be a good for the Broncos

My view is this;
If Hannant wants $400,000 a year then he can say goodbye to Red Hill. I say we go for Petro who hopefully will come cheap (with the promise of a job after footy) and sign the likes of a Tolman who isnt going to take up such a big portion of our salary cap. Also now we have signed Tronc we see how he turns out and if he is going well then we re-sign him. Tronc and Petro would be good metor's for a young Tolman or sombody else. Im sure we would have more cash left over to secure some other quality players so we dont have the same problems in depth as we do this year.

Any other Good up and coming props who will be on the market that we could look at signing???

Hannant can come for 350k MAX and Petro will come home he loves the club and wants a job after footy in Brissy.

Tolman won't come cheap, he will more than likely play for nsw this yr and I would not see him leaving the storm. Yeah he would be great but if he comes anything under 250 I would be very surprised! Having Hannant and Petero would be more than enough we already have Scott Anderson and Nick Kenny and now Shane Tronc there as well as young guys like Hala, Lui, Natusch, McGuire too. I think signing Petero would be enough as he would be enough of a leader for a couple of yrs to help develop the young blokes. Yeah I would love to get Hannant but if we had to lose a couple of young blokes like McGuire or Hala that could be as good as him that would be crap!

I would love to get Hannant back. However I wouldn't give him any more than what he is currently on at the dogs. If he doesn't agree and wants something ridiculous like 400k+ like has been rumored then he can get screwed. If we fail to get Hannant then I wouldn't mind seeing how we go with Lima as he is off contract and is looking for a new club.

Civo would be fantastic, especially if we plan to put him in some sort of coaching role once he retires which I think we will, and should.

I can't see Tolman leaving storm but if he is interested then I would go after him before Lima.

I guess this all depends on How Tronc turns out for us this year though. If he goes really well and is settling in well at the club then I would love to re-sign him. On top of this I think we would only need 1 more prop, unless Anderson/Sims leave or if something happens to Kenny.

Tronc, Civo, Anderson, Kenny. That's a forward rotation capable of winning a premiership especially when the halves are Wallace and Lockyer and you have guys like Folau and Justin God Hodges in the centres and someone like Yow Yeh on the wing icon_smile

And yeah i agree bring back Civo and rather then sign Money bags use Civo to guide the young guys.

Imagine this: Josh McGuire being pushed to his limits by Civo and a returning coach in Webcke. He would be a machine in no time.
