DARIUS Boyd says his Achilles' tendon continues to improve and he predicts he will be even better for the Broncos in 2016.
Boyd made a miraculous comeback from a ruptured tendon last year after suffering the injury early in the 2015 pre-season.
He was back on the field less than six months later, playing a stunning part in Queensland's Origin victory and the Broncos' run to the grand final.
And in great news for Broncos, the man who started the preliminary final against the Roosters with an intercept try says he will improve again in 2016.
While he had to take his time with his return last season, by March next year he thinks he will be at full capacity again.
"I have probably taken a bit easier at the start (of this pre-season)," he said.
"The injury happened about eight or nine days into training last year so it is about the same time now.
"I am just taking it a little easier - you don't have to win any goals too soon.
"It feels good now and I think it is better for the year.
"By the time the season kicks around it will be 100 per cent.
"I was definitely worried at the start because it was my first serious injury.
"I was worried how I would come back, how strong and fast I would be.
"It took time and it is still taking time.
"But by the time March comes around I think it will be close to full tilt."
Boyd said the Broncos were already focussed on building another good base to repeat their form of 2015.
With only Justin Hodges (retired) and bench forward Mitchell Dodds (Warrington) departed, things look bright.
"It's good to be back with the boys and put some hard work in," he said.
"It's always tough but it starts now, this is how you build a good season.
"And we want to have another good season like the last one.
"I think it gives a lot of confidence in the team that we have the same team apart from ‘Hodgo’.
"I think the boys are pumped and already working on the cohesiveness you need, so it is exciting."
